Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan donated to Australia's bushfire relief. The announcement came after the couple recently told followers that their Instagram account would only follow one new account per month to spotlight inspiring accounts. In terms of inspiring accounts, they appear to be leading by example.

The Duke and Duchess have had a difficult time making a good impression in the public eye following their fairly recent marriage.  The Duchess has recently opened up about how taxing the transition to motherhood had been for her with her royal title, and, generally speaking, the press has not been entirely easy on her. That said, Harry and Meghan have faced their personal struggles head-on, taking the high ground, despite their setbacks. Now, they're embracing the Royal Family's charitable history amid Australia's catastrophic brushfires.

The Instagram statement continued to say that they had a deep connection to the community of New South Wales when they visited back in 2018. Harry and Meghan also referred to "the fires in California and parts of Africa." They noted that the environmental consequences from the fires would be felt all over the world and also pointed to the devastation in the Amazon. Both the Duke and Duchess listed numerous organizations that would accept donations and explained that the fires are a global crisis and are officially being described as ecocide, given that 24 individuals are being accused of deliberately starting the fires.

Prince Harry’s older brother, Prince William, as well as his wife, Kate Middleton, also showed support for Australia. In an Instagram post from the Kensington Palace account, they explained that they were both shocked and saddened by the brushfire's relentless damage. The joint statement also revealed that the couple is praying for those in need and that their thoughts are with the people of Australia. Many other celebrities have also reached out to help the ailing nation, including the Irwin family who runs the Australian Zoo.
