Spoilers for Infinite Frontier Secret Files #1 ahead!

Calvin Ellis, President Superman, has long been a subject of fascination since his introduction over a decade ago, and now in DC's digital-first Infinite Frontier Secret Files #1, readers get their best look yet at Ellis, including his own version of the Fortress of Solitude - a special room only he can access.

Created by writer Grant Morrison and artist JG Jones, Calvin Ellis first appeared in Final Crisis as a resident of Earth-23. On that Earth, Superman is the President of the United States. Based on then-president Barack Obama, the character would return a few years later in another Grant Morrison project, the epic Multiversity, where Ellis was revealed to be a member of Justice Incarnate, a team of heroes who have assembled from across the Multiverse to fight evil. Ellis would appear again in Dark Nights: Death Metal, defending the multiverse from the Batman Who Laughs. Despite these high-profile appearances, still not much is known about this enigmatic character. But now DC is offering readers a fascinating look into the daily life of Calvin Ellis, the Super President.

In Infinite Frontier Secret Files #1, President Superman has had a busy - and stressful - day. To decompress, he goes to a special place only he can access with the use of a special key that turns any door anywhere into a portal to a special realm outside of space and time. In this case, Ellis used it on a random room in the White House. The space is ideal for healing from trauma, particularly those of the psychic variety. Ellis refuses to tell the story of how he obtained access to this space, calling the explanation “lengthy.” He only needs to spend a little time in this special place in order to recharge and rejuvenate. After only a few minutes in this space, President Superman emerges ready to fight another day.

A common thread uniting the various incarnations of Superman across the media over the years is the Fortress of Solitude. It is a place where Superman can retreat to in order to rest or cobble together some new tech to defeat whatever villain he's facing at any given time. It is his domain, and readers now see that  President Superman has his own version, but one with a cool twist -Ellis can take his Fortress anywhere. All he needs is a door.

Fans have been clamoring for a closer look at President Superman for years and now they are getting it in Infinite Frontier Secret Files #1, courtesy of writers Brandon Thomas and Joshua Willamson, artist Valentine De Landro, and colorists Marissa Louise and Triona Farrell; the issue is available now on digital platforms.
