Community Days in Pokémon GO are some of the most exciting times for GO players. Each month players are able to shiny hunt a specific Pokémon with increased encounter rates and shiny odds. However, community days only happen once a month, so players need to prepare to get the most out of each event. Luckily, with a month between events, players should have ample time to gather all the resources required for a day of shiny hunting.

Pokémon GO community days happen once a month, and each month a different species of Pokémon is selected to be that month's community day Pokémon. On the actual community day, that Pokémon will spawn more frequently for every trainer regardless of the time of year or weather. In addition to increased spawn rates, that Pokémon will also have increased shiny odds. Shiny Pokémon are some of the rarest Pokémon, and can very hard to obtain outside of a community. Players should take advantage of Pokémon GO community days to stock up on some rare shiny Pokémon.

Preparing For Pokemon GO Community Days

Pokemon GO, Sinnoh

Not only do community days only happen once a month, but they are also only available for a limited time. Community days last six hours usually from the hours of 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. Only during this time will players experience increased rates.

The first step to preparing is having plenty of incense. Incenses are items players use to attract wild Pokémon for a limited time. On community days, these incense last three hours which is more than enough time to catch plenty of Pokémon. These items are especially great to have for players who are playing from their homes. Each incense costs 40 pokécoins in the item shop. Players can obtain more pokécoins by leaving their Pokémon in gyms. Two incense should be more than enough for each community day.

Players will also need a lot of Pokéballs. Usually, the Pokémon that is available during a community day has three stages of evolution. In order to evolve a Pokémon in Pokémon GO, players will need to have an excess of that Pokémon's candy. If the player knows which Pokémon the community day will feature, they can work towards collecting enough candy ahead of time. If not, a player will need a lot of Pokéballs to catch plenty of Pokémon on the community day. Some Pokémon have bonuses associated with evolving them during the event, so it is worth trying to evolve them as soon as possible.

As long as a player has incense and Pokéballs, they are set for a Pokémon GO community day no matter where they choose to play. Pokécoins are also a great resource to have, and with a month between events, players should be able to throw their Pokémon in gyms plenty of times to gain coins over time.
