New 'Predators' Featurette Featuring Danny Trejo

Robert Rodriguez Confirms Predators Sequel

This summer's Predators reboot - from director Nimród Antal (Armored) and producer Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) - will find the deadly extraterrestrial warriors taking a break from their battle against the Aliens to get back in human-hunting form once again.

The original Predator featured both director John McTiernan (Die Hard) and bodybuilder/star Arnold Schwarzenegger at the top of their action-packed game in the late 1980s.  So, when Predators 2 came around with Stephen Hopkins (Lost in Space) at the helm and Danny Glover as the lead, sci-fi/action aficionados alike were - in general - left a tad bit underwhelmed.

So who - you might ask - could possibly hope to bring the brawniness/tough guy factor to Predators like Schwarzenegger did back in the original Predator back in 1987?

Ladies and gentleman, I give you Chuchillo, played in the film by Danny Trejo:

For those unfamiliar with Mr. Trejo, he's an ex-convict and former drug addict with a few lightweight boxing titles under his belt, who - with his trademark scarred face and tattoo-addled, muscular body - has made his career playing weapon-wielding muchachos who can kill you in the blink of an eye.

Did I mention that Trejo will turn 66 in just under two weeks?

Trejo will additionally appear as the lead in the upcoming Machete movie - inspired by the Grindhouse trailer that he also starred in.  Needless to say, his age is not exactly slowing him down.

Of course, Trejo won't be the only human in this summer's Predators vs. humans war.  His character Cuchillo will join a group led by military expert Royce (Adrien Brody) which is filled with several other high-profile stars, including Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix trilogy), Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3) and Alice Braga (Repo Men).

In case you missed it, here are the links to the featurettes about Grace and Braga's characters:

So what do you think?  Does it look like the cast of Predators will make the sci-fi/action flick a roller coaster ride worth taking?

Predators makes its way into theaters in the U.S. on July 9, 2010.
