Ever since 2010's Predators was met with mostly positive reviews but middling box office returns, the iconic monster movie franchise has been, for lack of a better phrase, stuck in limbo. However, that's all about to end with 20th Century Fox's brand new reboot of the franchise, The Predator, set to hit theaters early next year. In an even more interesting change of pace too, Fox has brought on Shane Black (Iron Man 3, The Nice Guys) to direct the reboot from a script that he co-wrote with Fred Dekker (Monster Squad). Based purely on Black's experience with iconic 1980s franchises, even the reboot's naysayers have to agree that the filmmaker's involvement feels like a match made in heaven.
Plot details regarding the reboot have been unsurprisingly thin so far, even as principal photography on it steadily continues, after first starting last month. But even if the actual story and premise of The Predator remains shrouded in a veil of secrecy for the time being, the talent fans can expect to see appearing in front of the camera throughout it is not.
Two of the more notable, last-minute additions to the cast of The Predator ended up being Thomas Jane and Game of Thrones' Alfie Allen, both in either undisclosed or understandably vague roles. The two actors were excluded from Black's first "official" cast photo for the film, but by releasing a second look at the ensemble from his official Twitter account, Black has offered fans their first look and Jane and Allen's characters in the film. Check it out for yourself down below:
Joining both Allen and Jane along for the ride will be Logan's Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Moonlight's Trevante Rhodes, Yvonne Strahovski, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan Michael-Key, and many, many more -- some of whom are featured in this photo and some of whom are not. Black described the group as a bunch of "stone cold killers with some serious acting chops" before going on to tease the sinister fate that some of their characters are guaranteed to meet, saying "... but which of them will be chopped...". Subtle? No, but it does continue to tease how true to the original tone and intensity of the original film that Black is planning on staying.
That's not much of a surprise either, considering Black himself played Hawkins in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-led Predator film. Not much is known about either Jane or Allen's characters, but the latter does seem to have some skills wielding playing cards, while the other just looks straight up exhausted. The costumes throughout all of the actors are fairly similar to each other as well, and have the same urban, dingy look that many of the team members in the original Predator film did. Now, it'll just have to wait to be seen, whose outfits are unfortunately ripped or covered in blood, and whose aren't.
