A brand new IMAX poster and TV spot has been unveiled for The Predator, which arrives just hours after the final trailer dropped this morning. Director Shane Black brings his career full-circle with the latest installment in The Predator franchise, which comes 31 years after the original 1987 classic Predator, where he starred as Hawkins, one of the early victims to be killed by the title creature. While the franchise has certainly seen its ups and downs, The Predator takes a new approach that's much different from its predecessors.

The first movie (which Black was actually approached to help rewrite as well) introduced the massive creature (the late Kevin Peter Hall) in a Central American jungle, where Dutch (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and his team of soldiers are tasked with a rescue mission. The 1990 sequel retained only Predator himself, who returned to set his sights on the denizens of Los Angeles, with a lone L.A.P.D. cop (Danny Glover) trying to stop him. From there, the Predator returned to share the spotlight with the Xenomorph in 2004's Alien vs. Predator, the 2007 sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem before going solo once again in 2010's Predators.

The new poster and TV spot debuted on Collider earlier today. The one-sheet gives us a full look at this deadly being, with the background matching the laser sight beam coming out of The Predator's helmet. The poster also teases that "The Hunt Is Bigger in IMAX," which is also illustrated in the TV spot. The video opens with one of the "ultimate predators," showcasing how these "ultimate" killers dwarf your garden variety predator, while showcasing some of the biggest action set pieces that will look even better on the massive IMAX screen. This new TV spot and poster also comes just a month after Predator reshoots took place in Vancouver.

Early box office tracking for The Predator predicts the movie will come away with an opening weekend between $25 million and $30 million. For a mid-September release, that isn't a terrible opening weekend, but it still falls short of the $38.2 million that Alien vs. Predator earned way back in 2004. Regardless, it's expected to easily take the top spot at the box office, with Lionsgate's A Simple Favor expected to top out between $12 million and $15 million, while White Boy Rick is projected to earn between $5 million and $9 million. No budget figures were given for The Predator yet, but given the scope of a movie like this, it very well might need a much bigger opening weekend to break even.

The fact that the Predator franchise has endured for over three decades is a feat unto itself, but none of the follow-ups to the original could quite capture what made the first movie an action classic. Part of that could be because Arnold Schwarzenegger never returned for any of the follow-ups (he turned down an appearance in this movie because he reportedly wanted a bigger role), but it's possible The Predator could succeed where others have failed. After all, there will be connections to the franchise as a whole, with Jake Busey playing the son of Peter Keyes, the Predator 2 character played by his real father, Gary Busey, and with Black at the helm, it could very well be one of the surprise hits of the fall.
