The Predator, Halloween & Fahrenheit 11/9 Getting TIFF World Premieres

Big fall releases The Predator, Halloween, and Fahrenheit 11/9, are all set to get their world premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival. What a summer blockbuster season 2018 has given moviegoers. Deadpool 2 delivered more R-rated action and humor from the Merc with a Mouth, dinosaurs roamed a Fallen Kingdom, Thanos brought his unique brand of balance to Avengers: Infinity War, and Tom Cruise put his own life on the life doing Mission: Impossible - Fallout's insane stunts.

Yet, the summer movie season will soon come to an end, and is already beginning to wind down. Thankfully, there are still lots of cool movies set to hit theaters in the fall, ranging all the way from The Conjuring universe entry The Nun, to Freddy Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, to Sony's Spider-Man-less take on Venom. Added to that list are FOX's latest attempt at revitalizing the Predator franchise, Blumhouse's resurrection of slasher icon Michael Myers, and the latest documentary from political provocateur Michael Moore.

Those last three films don't hit normal theaters until dates ranging from mid-September to mid-October, but it turns out that those who attend this year's edition of the Toronto International Film Festival will get a chance to check them all out early. According to Variety, The Predator, Halloween, and Fahrenheit 11/9 will all see their world premieres take place at the festival. Predator and Halloween will be part of the genre-focused Midnight Madness slate, while Fahrenheit will be part of the TIFF Docs section.

The Toronto International Film Festival - popularly known as TIFF for short - kicks off on September 6, and closes out on September 16. Exact screening times for Predator, Halloween, and Fahrenheit 11/9 have yet to be revealed, although Predator will be the opening film for Midnight Madness, while Moore's latest will be the first documentary shown. For reference, The Predator hits normal theaters on September 14, while Halloween debuts on October 19, and Fahrenheit releases on September 21.

While The Predator's early screening only comes about a week before its general release, Fahrenheit will screen more than two weeks before the masses can see it, offering TIFF attendees a considerable lead time. The real treat though will be for Halloween fans in Toronto, who'll get to witness director David Gordon Green's highly anticipated take on the Michael Myers mythos over a month early. Well, actually more like a rewrite of the mythos, as the new film will famously ignore all the sequels and remakes to John Carpenter's 1978 classic. Halloween will also mark the return of original "scream queen" Jamie Lee Curtis to a leading role in a major theatrical release, a position she hasn't held in quite some time.
