Two best friends followed the original Pokémon theme song's command and captured them all, successfully creating a Living Master Dex. Nintendo's long-running franchise introduced fans to its first generation of catchable creatures with Pokémon Red & Blue on the Game Boy. Since then, the series has become the highest-grossing media franchise in the world, and with each new generation, Pokémon continues to grow.

Earlier this year, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released on the Nintendo Switch as part of the series' eighth generation, bringing the total amount of pocket monsters to 905. Developer Game Freak has allowed fans to port their previously caught Pokémon into each new game over the years until Pokémon Sword & Shield controversially discontinued the trend. Although players are now unable to use every creature they have acquired in the latest games, fans are finding ways to catch them all, and two best friends recently did just that.

Every Pokémon has been caught by two friends working together to catch all 905 of the creatures since 2018. SpacebornKiller posted about the accomplishment on Reddit, with a picture of the two Pokémon Masters dressed for the occasion. The pair was able to catch most of the series' Pokémon on the original games they were released on, and not the virtual console versions. Every Pokémon and each evolved form must have been caught to complete the Living Master Dex. This includes Pokémon that are no longer available to acquire through traditional means.

Pokémon Fans Catch 'Em All For The Living Dex

Players can trade most Pokémon in the Pokémon HOME app, which helps them keep track of all the creatures they have caught throughout the years. Fans can attempt to catch all of them by battling and exploring each location of the series' main games. However, over the years, some have been locked through special timed events that are no longer accessible. This meant the two friends had to use a Gameshark to bypass this issue and catch the Pokémon that were no longer attainable. They also had to trade with other Pokémon trainer friends. Still, at the end of their quest, the power of teamwork and friendship finally achieved the remarkable accomplishment of catching them all.

The latest Pokémon games not including the full National Dex from the past generations is understandable. Having to model, animate, and program all 905 Pokémon would take a very long time with the improved graphics and processes found in the latest games of the series. The Pokémon franchise is about to grow even larger, with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the Nintendo Switch coming in November. Even though the two deserve a break, chances are SpacebornKiller, and his friend's Pokémon collection will continue to evolve.
