From the creation of the Mark-I suit in a cave in Iron Man to the forging of Stormbreaker at the heart of a dying star with Groot’s self-severed arm in Avengers: Infinity War, there are some incredibly powerful and legendary weapons in the MCU. Thor: Love and Thunder recently introduced a new one with Gorr the God Butcher’s trusty dark blade, the Necrosword – along with the return of everyone’s favorite magical hammer, Mjølnir.

While it might be hard to compete with any of these weapons, there are still some consequential and powerful items waiting in the wings. Specifically, these weapons should be featured in an upcoming film or tv show, and several stand a very good chance at it.

Nega-Bands

Right now powerful accessories are getting their moment in the MCU, starting with the Ten Rings in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and then Kamala’s mysterious bangle in Ms. Marvel. As per the latter, it is still surrounded by mystery, but many fans are theorizing that it is one of the Nega Bands. However, if it turns out that are separate things, the Nega Bands should still be incorporated into the MCU.

The Nega Bands were created by the Kree Empire and along with the powers they unlock, they could give the user access to the Negative Zone. Given the circumstances of their discovery – on the arm of what was likely a Kree – and the post-credits stinger, in which Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan swapped places, it seems fairly certain that they are the Nega Bands. However, it still needs to be formally confirmed, and that will likely happen when Ms. Marvel returns in The Marvels.

Quantum Bands

Wendell Vaughn (Quasar) and the Quantum Bands

Along with the Nega Bands, some people had initially theorized that Kamala’s bangle was a Quantum Band. While that has seemingly been proven false, that revelation doesn’t limit the Quantum Bands’ arrival in the MCU. They have an even more ancient origin than the Nega Bands, being created by the cosmic entity, Eon, one of the first beings to exist, and one of the strangest.

Along with its offspring, Epoch, Eon gives the Quantum Bands and declares the wearer as the Protector of the Universe. The most prominent person to use them is Wendell Vaughn aka Quasar, though he’s since been replaced by his protégé, Avril Kincaid. Other characters who have owned the Quantum Bands are Phyla-Vell, Nova, and Annihilus. They could come into play in a future cosmic story, whether Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Nova, and/or a Quasar-centric project.

Excalibur

Faiza Hussain Using Excalibur

There are plenty of powerful and iconic swords in Marvel comics, and one finally arrived in the MCU in Eternals. The Ebony Blade was revealed in one of the post-credits scenes setting up Kit Harrington’s transformation into Black Knight and a team-up with Mahershala Ali’s Blade. Another legendary blade worthy to enter MCU is, of course, Excalibur. The Ebony Blade was cursed with the evil magic drawn from a purified Excalibur.

The sword is best recognized for its relation to King Arthur, Merlin, and Camelot, and could come into play as the light counterpart to the Ebony Blade, being wielded by Captain Britain. Its inclusion could also entail the introduction of Faiza Hussain, an unknown character deemed worthy of freeing the legendary blade from this stone sheath, which led her to become the next Captain Britain.

Ultimate Nullifier

Ultimate Nullifier Galactus

As the MCU continues to venture into the cosmos, fans are expecting that Galactus will be featured sometime in the future. They first have to introduce the Fantastic Four, but that will be happening soon – with casting set to be announced at the D23 summit in September. When Galactus arrives, however, it could also lead to the introduction of the Ultimate Nullifier.

Considered to be the most destructive weapon in the universe, the Ultimate Nullifier is capable of completely obliterating any target, and even the wielder themself. A story involving the Ultimate Nullifier and Galactus could entail a heist of sorts to steal the weapon from the cosmic being, to use it in hopes of preventing him from consuming Earth. However, this is logically many years down the line – probably not even until Phase six at the earliest.

Tactigon

Tactigon in Marvel Comics

Many of the most powerful weapons are naturally quite ancient and have origins linked with equally as powerful entities, but none might be as weird as the Tactigon. It is linked to its host and it can recognize an enemy’s weakness, and then adapt to exploit it. It could become an energy cannon, shooting out lasers like Cyclops’ optic blasts, or transform into a sword like Hela’s weapons.

As such, it is very resourceful, and something many a villain would love to get their hands on. Due to its still mysterious origins, there are several possibilities as to how to bring the Tactigon into the MCU. It could come into play in one of the cosmic films possibly as the antagonist’s weapon opposing Nova or Quasar.

Amulets of Power

White Tiger and the Jade Tiger Amulet

Since the MCU is already so expansive and shows no signs of slowing itself down, which could allow the introduction of some lesser-known or overshadowed heroes. That might include White Tiger, a hero who’s teamed up with the likes of Daredevil, Spider-Man, the Defenders, and the Avengers. Several people have used the moniker and the amulets of power, most of whom are in the Ayala family.

The amulets grant incredible fighting skills that help White Tiger become one of the comics' best hand-to-hand fighters. This would make for a great character in the MCU and could lead to some incredible fight choreography on part with what’s been seen in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. As such, the character and the amulets could be fun additions to Shang-Chi 2.

Odinsword

Odin brandishes the Odinsword in Marvel Comics.

The Asgardians are not lacking in iconic weapons in the MCU with the likes of Mjølnir and Stormbreaker, along with Dragonfang, Valkyrie’s dagger, and Gungnir, Odin’s spear. However, one weapon still missing from MCU is the Odinsword, which as its name implies is Odin’s sword. It is a giant and incredibly powerful blade coursing with destructive power capable of ending the Universe. As such, the wielder would need to be highly reliable.

Since Odin is gone from the MCU and Ragnarok has already happened, Thor probably doesn’t want a world-ending sword near him or his new daughter, Love. However, if it does come into play, it could become Valkyrie’s new weapon if she needs to face off against one of the many great Asgardian villains yet to feature in the MCU.

Soulsword

Following Ms. Marvel, mutants and the X-Men have an open invitation to finally join the MCU, and fans are eagerly waiting for their RSVP. Since there are many popular and compelling X-Men to feature, there are many ideas on who should be the first. Of course, they could and probably should god with some original team members, like Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Iceman. However, they should incorporate some later additions like Magik, Colossus, and Kitty Pryde. With the forme would then come her mystical sword, the Soulsword.

It’s probably best recognized recently in The New Mutants with  Anya Taylor Joy playing Illyana Rasputin aka Magik – and she’d still be a good fit for the character in the MCU. Magik constructs the sword by magically channeling her life force, using it against supernatural and mystic forces.

Kang's Time Chair

Kang in his Time Chair

Some of the indifference currently permeating throughout the fanbase results from the secrecy in officially revealing who the next Thanos-level big bad will be. However, as Kevin Feige has stated, Phase Four and beyond won’t look the same as the Infinity Saga, and thus there might not be that overarching villain. However, a worthy candidate for that role is Jonathan Major’s Kang the Conqueror.

Major’s surprise inclusion in Loki was utterly captivating and a masterclass in performance, so fans are expecting a lot now that he’ll be playing Kang in Ant-man and the Wasp: Quantumania. When he finally appears, he should be seated in his classic Time Chair. Not only does it allow him to travel through time, like a giant TemPad, but it's got some impressive defensive systems that help Kang become such a great adversary to the Avengers and the Fantastic Four - hence the next Avengers film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Black Vortex

Kitty Pryde enters the Black Vortex in Marvel Comics.

There have been many characters who’ve been granted god-like powers and responsibilities, whether they’re determined to be worthy of a mystical weapon or something that alters their entire being. In the case of the latter, the Black Vortex could drastically change the course of the MCU, and it might be necessary for the long run with the cosmos expanding. More powerful and destructive forces could be unlocked and heroes would need a way to keep up with them.

The Black Vortex is like a mirror, granting the user incredible cosmic powers and elevating to a status on par with figures like the Celestials, Eternity, and Galactus. Some of the heroes who have used the Black Vortex have been Gamora, Beast, Kitty Pryde Cyclops, Iceman, and Groot. They eventually returned to normal, but they could’ve stayed like that forever.
