Warning: Spoilers for Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #106The most unlikely new member of the Power Rangers has arrived, with a brand new costume making iconic Power Rangers villain Lord Zedd an official (if unwanted) Ranger in their quest to defeat the new and improved Rita Repulsa.

In BOOM! Studios' Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers series, Rita Repulsa (rechristened Mistress Vile) has launched an all-out attack on her former villainous allies, including Lord Zedd. After leaving Zedd in a broken heap of his former self, the Rangers are forced to nurse him back to health at the Command Center. That's where he remains in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #106 by Melissa Flores and Simona Di Gianfelice, with Zedd mostly restored to health... but remaining caged, and overseen by soldiers. Although he and the Rangers have a common enemy now, Zedd makes it clear he has no intentions to form an alliance. Choosing to inflict his vengeance alone, he formulates his escape, unveiling a special morpher. Upon belching "It's Morphin' Time," Zedd unveils his brand-new Ranger suit.

Zedd's Ranger suit in restores his previously destroyed face mask. Throughout his body, he's gifted a red, blue, and silver color scheme that covers his normally-exposed flesh. He's also sporting white gloves and matching boots, meaning he most certainly looks the part of a Power Ranger. Even if, in his quest to vanquish Rita, he has no plans of actually joining Zordon's squadron.

Lord Zedd is Officially a Power Ranger

Lord Zedd in Power Rangers-Justice League

Dating as far back as his debut appearance in "The Mutiny Part 1" in season 2 of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Lord Zedd has been in the cross-hairs of the Rangers. Zedd has proven time and time again to be a thorn in the side of the Rangers, with the Rangers being a thorn in his in return, causing a mutual disdain. Which makes this latest development for him all the more ironic.

Lord Zedd technically becoming an ally of the Rangers - if only in a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" sense - is ironic enough. It is a whole other irony entirely for Zedd to become the very thing that he has spent years fighting for so long. It's just as ironic when readers know the history and hatred between Lord Zedd and Zordon, founder of the Power Rangers. In his former life as Zophram, Zedd was a friend, mentor, and fellow Eltarian of Zordon's. In many respects, Zedd despises the creator of the Power Rangers even more than he hates the Rangers themselves. Now he's become a Ranger. Who knows what strange transformations and revelations are still to come?
