The 23rd season of the Power Rangers ultra-popular franchise kicks off this month with the second season of Power Rangers Dino Charge premiering on Nickelodeon. Last season saw the Rangers finally defeat the team's main antagonist Sledge; however, someone newer and even badder is stepping up to take his spot. Fortunately, they were able to secure the help of Kendall Morgan - the lead scientist at the Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum - as the new Dino Charge Purple Ranger in her powerful Plesio Zord, which possesses the spirit of the extinct Plesiosaur.

In the video clip above from the season premiere of the show, retitled to Power Rangers Dino Super Charge, we see Gold Dino Ranger Ivan (Davi Santos), Purple Dino Ranger Kendall Morgan (Claire Blackwelder), and Blue Dino Ranger Koda (Yoshua Sudarso) searching for someone in the woods near Amber Beach when they come across a cold new enemy.

The synopsis for the upcoming season is as follows:

The Rangers believe their work is done after they’ve defeated Sledge and his evil monsters. Unbeknownst to them, an even more powerful monster is picking up where Sledge left off and is closer to the Rangers than they think. The Rangers must re-group to defend their Energems and save the universe from this new threat.

Also returning this season to fight this dangerous, new threat will be the other Dino Rangers: Tyler the Red Dino Ranger (Brennan Mejia) in his T-Rex Zord, Shelby the Pink Dino Ranger (Camille Hyde) in her Tricera Zord, Riley the Green Dino Ranger (Michael Taber) in his Raptor Zord, Chase the Black Dino Ranger (Brenan Davies) in his Para Zord, and Prince the Graphite Dino Ranger (Jarred Blakiston) in his Pachy Zord. Of course the Stego Zord (Blue Dino Ranger) and Ptera Zord (Gold Dino Ranger) will be there as well.

As we saw in the season finale last year, thanks to the addition of the Purple Dino Rangers Plesio Zord, all those Zords can now combine into the mighty Plesio Charge Megazord Pachy-Rex Formation - based on the brief encounter in this video clip, it looks like they'll need that, and more. To that end, there are rumors that three other Rangers could join in the battle later this season - Aqua, Silver and Talon - but fans will have to watch the entire season to see if those rumors become true.

Power Rangers Dino Super Charge premiere episode “When Evil Stirs” airs Saturday, January 30th at 12 p.m. on Nickelodeon.
