The latest season of the long-running Power Rangers TV series, Power Rangers: Dino Fury, will see the return of the prehistoric-themed mechs called Dinozords. Debuting back in 1993, Power Rangers follows the eponymous teenaged heroes as they defend the Earth in style from various foes. The series is based on the Japanese TV show, Super Sentai, part of a genre called "tokusatsu" in which live-action is altered with heavy use of special effects. The massive franchise has gone on for years, expanding the universe, adding to their many adventures, and cycling through countless actors portraying each of the rangers.

Nickelodeon has announced that Power Rangers season 28 will release some time in 2021. The series will feature an all-new team of rangers defending the Earth from an alien threat. Throughout the years the rangers have acquired various new powers, but none are quite as captivating as the Zords. Each of the Mighty Morphin' crew is able to suit up in one of these large mechs for taking on bigger enemies. If things get really hairy, they can form a Megazord, a Voltron-esque giant robot that the rangers pilot as one.

The Power Rangers Official YouTube page recently released the new trailer for Power Rangers: Dino Fury. The latest season will see the return of the Dinozords, which have appeared periodically throughout the Power Rangers canon, most recently in 2015's Dino Charge. According to the new trailer for the season, the aliens that have come to Earth are seeking the prehistoric power for themselves, and the new team of Power Rangers will have to use the Dinozords to prevent their power from falling into the wrong hands.

It's no secret that kids love Power Rangers and dinosaurs, so blending the two together is never a bad idea from a marketing perspective. Hasbro has been eager to release new merchandise for the franchise, announcing Power Rangers toys at their first-ever PulseCon. Old fans ready for a hit of nostalgia will be happy to see the return of the fan-favorite Dinozords, and new fans will have their minds blown for the first time.

The time is ripe for a return to form for Power Rangers. A slightly grittier 2017 movie based on the franchise was planned to be the first entry in a planned film series, but it was a flop. The creative minds that be seem to have taken the hint and decided to stick more closely to what people love so much about the franchise, as the upcoming film will fit into the same continuity as the Power Rangers series. Since the new film will include past suits and Zords, it seems fitting that Power Rangers: Dino Fury will serve to catch new fans up on the Dinozords before they eventually hit the big screen.
