Comic book fans on Ranker have voted for their favorite couples when it concerns superheroes. When it comes to Marvel heroes, many appeared on the rankings and there were so many popular ones that several popular couplings like Spider-Man and Black Cat missed out on the top 10. One thing that the Marvel couples have in common is that things were never easy for them.

Winter Soldier & Black Widow

Black Widow and Winter Soldier have a very long history, longer than almost anyone in Marvel Comics. Black Widow was born in 1928 and was injected with the super serum in the Red Room, where she was trained by Winter Soldier and they developed a romantic relationship.

Both became villains, even though that was not their true identities. By the time Black Widow escaped and Hawkeye helped her join S.H.I.E.L.D., things had ended. When Winter Soldier showed up in the present day, he soon gained his freedom as well, and the two remain close allies with few memories of their previous love.

Ant-Man & The Wasp

One of the first superhero relationships in Marvel Comics came when Ant-Man and the Wasp debuted together. Ant-Man was Hank Pym, a scientist who created Pym Particles, the ability to shrink, and he shared it with Janet Van Dyne, who became the Wasp.

The two had a very difficult relationship, with Pym breaking down and becoming Yellow Jacket. It was then that Wasp married him and they were a strong couple until Pym lost control again and physically assaulted his wife. They divorced and have not been together in years.

Black Bolt & Medusa

Black Bolt and Medusa were the first royal couple in Marvel Comics' world of superheroes. While Medusa first appeared as a villain, she soon turned good and joined her husband and king, Black Bolt, as the leaders of the Inhumans.

While they were one of the most powerful superhero couples in history, they struggled to keep their relationship together. When Medusa learned Black Bolt was a member of the Illuminati, she left him and took over his spot as the Queen of Attilan. They have since reunited, but Medusa remains equal to her powerful husband with the Inhumans.

Cyclops & Jean Grey

In the first X-Men comic, the team was already training with Professor Xavier and a new student arrived with Jean Grey. All the guys on the team liked Grey, but it was Cyclops that ended up winning her heart. Things took a stumble when she died in The Dark Phoenix Saga.

While Cyclops married Jean's clone, when the original came back, he quickly reunited with her. The two ended up married, and while their relationship has been on and off constantly through the years, they remain a fan favorite superhero couple in Marvel Comics.

Black Panther & Storm

Black Panther and Storm as enemies.

For several years, there wasn't a superhero relationship more romantic in Marvel Comics than the one between Black Panther and Storm. The two met as teens and shared a small romance then, but it was when they were adults, and met up again, that they took it to another level.

Storm and Black Panther got married in a beautiful ceremony during Civil War and Storm became his queen. Sadly, Black Panther annulled their marriage when Storm took the X-Men's side in Avengers Vs. X-Men, although she proved after this that she would be there when Wakanda needed her.

Luke Cage & Jessica Jones

Luke Cage marries Jessica Jones.

Luke Cage and Jessica Jones had a romantic fling years before they officially got together. Jessica Jones was actually dating Ant-Man when Luke came back and she had a one-night stand and ended up pregnant with Luke's daughter.

That could have been problematic, but she chose to have the baby and then married Luke Cage. They have been together ever since, even making their way through the Civil War with their daughter, Danielle.

Daredevil & Elektra

When Matt Murdock met Elektra Natchios, the two fell in love. What neither of them knew was that Matt was Daredevil and Elektra was an assassin working for Wilson Fisk. This made them enemies, but they wanted more until Bullseye killed the assassin to get to Daredevil.

Elektra returned from the grave thanks to The Hand and she has been both a friend and foe to Daredevil. In recent comics, Daredevil went to prison after he accidentally killed someone and Elektra cared so much about him that she took his place as Daredevil to protect Hell's Kitchen while he was gone.

Mr. Fantastic & The Invisible Woman

The very first superhero relationship in Marvel Comics was between Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Woman. Reed Richards took Susan Storm and her brother with him on a test flight and it turned them all into superheroes, known as The Fantastic Four.

In one of the most important weddings in Marvel Comics history, Reed Richards married Susan Storm. They have not always been on the same page and have split up more than once, but they are still together today with two children, remaining Marvel's First Family.

Vision & Scarlet Witch

Fans of the MCU really got to know Vision and Scarlet Witch well thanks to the movies and the Disney+ series WandaVision. In the comics, Wanda believed she was a mutant and the daughter of Magneto, although that turned out to be false. The Vision was a synthezoid Ultron created that turned on its master.

It was a bizarre relationship, a mutant and a robot fell in love and somehow had two babies after getting married. It turned out that the kids were not real and the marriage never lasted either. Wanda and the Vision recognize their past, but they have been separated for years, despite the MCU making it all seem fresh again for fans.

Gambit & Rogue

The most popular superhero relationship in Marvel Comics history is also one of the most toxic. Gambit and Rogue have been on and off more than almost any couple in comics. Rogue grew up with villains Mystique and Destiny as her mothers while Gambit grew up in the Thieve's Guild.

Both carried secrets, and those destroyed them more often than not. They did get married at one point after Kitty Pryde left Colussus at the altar, but in present-day Krakoa, the two are no longer together, although they acknowledge they still have a strong attraction for each other.
