A recent teaser video for Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 may be teasing the true form of the monstrous Mommy Long Legs. The second installment in the survival horror series will take players back to the Playtime Co. factory for another terrifying adventure. The first Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 trailer had secret messages, possibly left for the player by Mommy Long Legs, and the latest glimpse at the upcoming expansion is even more cryptic.
Similar to the pizzeria survival franchise Five Nights at Freddy's, MOB Games' Poppy Playtime sees players traverse a large toy factory and solve puzzles while avoiding the factory's unholy creations. The first chapter pits players against Huggy Wuggy, a furry blue creature with razor-sharp teeth and an appetite for factory explorers. The bloodthirsty plaything hunts players relentlessly throughout the game, and Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is set to introduce an even more horrific antagonist in the form of Mommy Long Legs. The pink creature has four extremely long limbs and a colorful design, but her cheerful demeanor hides a sinister intent. One game theory about Mommy Long Legs suggests that she may even gain additional arms over time, making her an increasingly dangerous foe.
A recently-released Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 teaser, posted to Twitter by MOB Games, may hint at Mommy Long Leg's terrifying true form. The unsettling video starts out as an advertisement for Playtime Co.'s in-universe Mommy Long Legs toy, but it eventually shifts to show disturbing distorted footage of various locales. However, 48 seconds into the video a bizarre figure can be vaguely e seen. The blurry image seems to contain Mommy Long Legs' pink spindly arms and an inhuman face, suggesting that this may be another form of the aggressive plaything.
While this hidden monstrosity may be another form of Mommy Long Legs, Poppy Playtime fans believe Daddy Long Legs may also appear as an even creepier partner for the creature. While a male counterpart for Mommy Long Legs has not been officially mentioned by MOB Games, many fans seem to believe that such a monster is likely to appear in the future. Huggy Wuggy has a female counterpart in the form of Kissy Missy, so male and female variants of toys may become a running Poppy Playtime trend in Chapter 2 or beyond.
While Mommy Long Legs is spine-chilling by herself, it appears that Poppy Playtime may feature an even more grotesque version of the creature. However, it is also possible that the video is teasing the rumored existence of a Daddy Long Legs. In either case, fans are sure to encounter unexpected and lethal threats once Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is finally released.
Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 will release on PC, iOS and Android in 2022.
