Project: Playtime, the multiplayer spinoff of Poppy Playtime, may not seem like it necessarily furthers the overall lore of the franchise - but a few hidden details hint otherwise. The recently released asymmetrical horror title, though it had a rocky launch and is still riddled with various bugs, has amassed a lot of fans who enjoy its unique, liminal atmosphere and dark story. Some particularly dedicated fans have taken the time to inspect every detail of these maps, and are theorizing that these details may actually provide clues about the next main game in the series.

In Project: Playtime, survivors play as "Resource Extraction Specialists," who have been sent to the abandoned Playtime Co. factory to recover certain assets for the company. Meanwhile, killers play as three iconic beasts from the Poppy Playtime universe: Huggy Wuggy, Mommy Long Legs, and the new Boxy Boo - and in Project: Playtime, each monster has unique abilities that play into their characters. Both survivors and killers alike will likely be preoccupied with more pressing tasks during gameplay (that being building the giant toy, and killing the humans, respectively), but if they take a moment to look around the maps, they will find some clues to Poppy Playtime Chapter 3.

Daddy Long Legs May Be In Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

With Boxy Boo being introduced to fans through the extensive ARG, and finally in-game with the release of Project: Playtime, many suspect that he will be the next chapter's main antagonist. While it's hard to deny this possibility, an interesting detail discovered by Huggy Wuggy And Poppy Playtime Show on YouTube suggests that a different monster will also be involved in the darker story of Poppy Playtime's Chapter 3. A poster, which can be found on the Factory map, depicts Daddy Long Legs grilling some barbeque - but more suspiciously, he invites the reader to join him, also providing a date, address, and even a phone number to RSVP.

It's still unclear what the address or the phone number mean, but July 15 could possibly hint at Poppy Playtime Ch. 3's release date. If this is the case, then it's extremely likely that Daddy Long Legs will be involved in the story as well, at least as a supporting character. This could prove very interesting, knowing his involvement with Mommy Long Legs, and it could possibly serve as a continuation of her lore from Chapter 2.

The Prototype Might Make A Reappearance In Poppy Playtime Chapter 3

Mommy Long Legs being controlled on strings by the Prototype, a rare loading screen found in Project: Playtime.

The Prototype is Poppy Playtime's most mysterious character, and he has been rather elusive in the lore so far. However, this detail in Project: Playtime, caught by Sheeprampage on YouTube, could hint at his reappearance in Poppy Playtime Chapter 3. This loading screen, which has a very rare chance of occurring, unmistakably depicts the Prototype's creepy, mechanical claw controlling Mommy Long Legs, as if she was a puppet. While this makes for some fascinating splash art, it also alludes to the fact that the highly-intelligent being could actually be behind all the events of Poppy Playtime. This makes it especially likely that players will see him return in Chapter 3.

A release date for Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 (which should end the series) has yet to be confirmed, but with it rumored to launch sometime in 2023, it won't be too long before fans can uncover the truth for themselves. If the poster theory is correct, it could arrive as early as July 15, possibly featuring Daddy Long Legs as the main antagonist. Similarly, the Prototype could also be making his way back into the story as the mastermind behind everything. Either way, until Poppy Playtime Chapter 3 is released, fans have Project: Playtime to keep them company - and there are likely plenty more hints to be discovered therein.
