A prototype version of a secret Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 ending recently hit the web, revealing new dialogue lines from Poppy that could hint at what developer MOB Games has planned for the series' third chapter. The crew at MOB Games unleashed the monster-filled Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 on Steam earlier this month, inviting players to pick up where they left off at the end of Chapter 1. Billed as an experience whose scope eclipses that of its predecessor three times over, the new horror adventure treads even deeper into the haunted halls of the Playtime Co. toy factory.
Previously known as a leader in the toy manufacturing industry, Playtime Co. stands as little more than an abandoned time capsule at the start of the original Poppy Playtime. The player character visits the factory in an effort to uncover the truth about why several employees went missing years prior. Needless to say, the protagonist finds that they've bitten off more than they can chew upon encountering a series of creepy children's toys come to life. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2's introduction of Mommy Long Legs and other bizarre creations manage to elevate the horror tenfold.
YouTuber FusionZGamerr recently posted a gameplay video wherein they explore a prototyped version of a different Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 ending. The new sequence takes place on an unfinished iteration of the train and features previously unheard voice-over lines from Poppy. Notably, Poppy congratulates the player for saving her and defeating Mommy Long Legs before taking the blame for the factory workers that vanished in years passed. She goes on to say that her existence as a doll resulted in many deaths, then insists the player character can set things right. "This train is now heading towards Playcare, it's the best place to start looking," Poppy teases before FuzionZGamerr randomly falls through the train's floor.
This secret ending seems to set the stage for a potential Poppy Playtime Chapter 3, perhaps even more so than the conclusion that players experience in Chapter 2's final build. The above iteration most notably sheds light on Poppy's overarching goal and offers a few more lore teases that will likely excite many a fan. Why MOB Games left this version on the cutting room floor presently remains a mystery.
Though Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 has yet to turn a month old, players are eager to get their hands on a third entry. The turnaround time between Chapters 1 and 2 suggests another installment could arrive within the next year or so, but MOB Games has yet to share its future plans for the nascent franchise. Whatever the team does next will surely attract plenty of attention, though.
