The exciting launch of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 has been beset with a disappointing number of bugs, ultimately resulting in mixed Steam reviews. After weeks of uncertainty with respect to Poppy Playtime Chapter 2's release date, developer MOB Games rolled out the brand-new content on Thursday, May 5. One day prior, the company announced its partnership with Youtooz Collectibles for a set of Poppy Playtime figures that include Poppy, Huggy Wuggy, and the surprisingly faceless player character.

A Five Nights at Freddy's-like horror experience, the original Poppy Playtime landed on PC in October 2021. It didn't take too long for word to spread that MOB Games had developed something special, a game revolving around an abandoned toy factory whose creepy toys had grown sentient with a hunger to kill. Chapter 2 seemed poised to further elevate Poppy Playtime on every front, with an all-new main monster, Mommy Long Legs, who players hoped would prove a good successor to Huggy Wuggy. But instead of debating whether or not Chapter 2's Mommy Long Legs can hold a candle to her predecessor, day one buyers find themselves wondering why performance issues are plaguing the experience.

Several hours after Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 hit Steam, developer MOB Games issued an apology addressing the game's various bugs. Though problems related to the "Barry glitch" and audio errors were resolved in a patch, other trouble spots, such as those concerning the settings menu, will linger for a bit longer while MOB Games works on developing a fix. Players have reported more issues in the apology statement's Twitter thread, informing developers of crashing errors, framerate troubles, and lag. Notably, Steam reviews of Poppy Playtime Chapter 2, which currently read as "mixed," feature similar complaints from users.

At the time of writing, MOB Games has yet to release another statement on its official Twitter page; as such, there's no update on when exactly players can expect Poppy Playtime's pricier sequel to receive the necessary bug fixes. Hopefully, the development team is able to offer extra insight before early buyers become too antsy.

As mentioned above, Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 bears a higher price tag than its predecessor. The original title cost $4.99 at launch; meanwhile, the follow-up asks users to fork over $9.99. While a contingent of fans balks at the price increase, MOB Games claims the latest release features three times as much content and will take at least twice as long to complete. Regardless of the specifics, the new price point counts as another knock against the sequel in the eyes of some.
