Pokémon TCG's latest expansion, Silver Tempest, was released on November 11th, giving fans fantastic new cards like various amazing Lugia cards and several new radiant cards for Pokémon like Jirachi and Alakazam.
Silver Tempest is the second to last expansion for the Sword & Shield series and is a perfect way to celebrate the Holiday season. Whether it's Alolan Vulpix, Lugia V, or the trainer card Lance, there are plenty of cards that every trainer will want to get their hands on for every pack they open.
10 Friends in Galar (Full Art)
Friends in Galar is a fun full art card that depicts the protagonists from Pokémon Sword & Shield alongside their primary rivals throughout the game. Many fans are immediately desiring this card for its fun artwork rather than its actual effect.
Friends in Galar's effect allows the player to draw 3 cards, which can have its usefulness, but most players who obtain the full art version of this card will be saving it for their collections rather than their decks.
9 Radiant Alakazam
This card features awesome artwork of one of the best psychic-type Pokémon, Alakazam, as its shiny variant. The card is visually breathtaking, and many trainers won't find it too difficult to get their hands on it.
The card has an ability called Painful Spoons that allows it the player to move up to 2 damage counters from any of the opponent's Pokémon and place it onto a different Pokémon. This is a perfect strategy to take down powerful Pokémon the opponent may have. Alakazam's attack, Mind Ruler, does 20 damage normally times 20 damage more for every card in the opponent's hand.
8 Radiant Jirachi
This card depicts another Pokémon as their shiny variant; this time it's Jirachi, one of the strongest mythical Pokémon. Just like Alakazam, Jirachi has a single ability and a single attack. Jirachi's ability, Entrusted Wishes, allows the player to take 3 cards from their deck and place them in their hand so long as Jirachi is knocked out by the opposing Pokémon's attack.
Jirachi's attack, Astral Misfortune, doesn't deal any damage. However, the player is allowed to flip 2 coins and if both of them land on heads, then the opposing Pokémon is immediately knocked out. Jirachi can be a dangerous and powerful card for the luckiest of players.
7 Ho-Oh V (Full Art)
Both the artwork for Ho-Oh's normal V card and its full art are beautiful cards to withhold and are already highly desired cards. Ho-Oh possesses an awesome ability called Reviving Flame that can only be used when the card is in the discard pile.
If it is, then the player can place this Pokémon on their bench and attach up to 4 energy cards from their discard pile to it. Once this is done, the player's turn ends. Ho-Oh's attack deals 100 damage plus 30 damage for every basic energy attached to it. So normally, Ho-Oh will deal 220 damage.
6 Serena (Full Art)
Serena is the female protagonist from the Pokémon X & Y games. Many fans have already pinpointed Serena's full art trainer card as one of their most desired cards from Silver Tempest. This card allows the player to choose between two different effects.
The first effect allows the player to discard up to 3 cards (and no less than 1) and then draw until they have at least 5 cards in their hand. The second effect allows the player to swap one of the opponent's benched V Pokémon with their active Pokémon. This is a fantastic effect to use against players who retreated a V card that only has a bit of health left.
5 Lugia VSTAR (Secret)
This stunning card is one that many players want to get their hands on whether it's the normal Lugia VSTAR or its even rarer secret version. Lugia is one of the best dual-type flying Pokémon and this card does it justice.
It has a single normal powerful attack that deals an incredible 220 damage that also allows the player to discard a Stadium card in play. Lugia's VSTAR Power is called Summoning Star and allows the player to place up to two normal-type Pokémon without a rule box onto their bench from their discard pile.
4 Regidrago V (Alternate Art)
This card depicts a comfortable image of Regidrago V's alternate artwork card as it sits in ancient ruins. Fans can also spot a Lugia flying up in the corner of the card.
Regidrago has two different attacks: the first, called Celestial Roar, allows the player to discard the top three cards of their deck, but if any of them are energy cards, they may attach them to Regidrago. Regidrago's second attack, Dragon Laser, deals 130 damage and an additional 30 damage to one of the opponent's benched Pokémon.
3 Rayquaza VMAX (Trainer Gallery)
This card depicts one of the best snake-like Pokémon, Rayquaza, alongside Zinnia from Pokémon OmegaRuby & AlphaSapphire. The two of them team up in a brand-new way with Rayquaza's awesome new power. Rayquaza's ability, Azure Pulse, allows the player to discard their hand once per turn to draw 3 new cards.
Its attack, Max Burst, normally deals 20 damage but also deals an additional 80 damage for every electric or fire-type energy attached to it. Since Rayquaza's Max Burst already requires one of these each, if the player discards only the ones required they can deal 180 damage normally.
2 Unown V (Alternate Art)
This fun-filled card depicts the well-loved Unown Pokémon. The alternate artwork for the card is already one of the most sought-after from Silver Tempest. This card has two attacks, with the first dealing 30 damage while simultaneously confusing the defending Pokémon.
Unown's second attack is an incredibly extraordinary card that can snatch victory out of a tough situation. If they use this attack and only have one prize card remaining, then they automatically win the game. All they need is to have three basic energy cards attached.
1 Lugia V (Alternate Art)
Trainers had their eyes set on Lugia V's alternate artwork card since it was first seen. This stunning card features Lugia in a storm with a sailor watching on as it passes. The normal Lugia V is also worth obtaining for its beautiful artwork of Lugia sailing across the ocean, but nothing comes close to the beauty of its alt art.
Lugia has two attacks on this card, with the first, Read the Wind, allowing the player to discard 1 card and draw 3. Its second attack, Aero Dive, deals 130 damage and allows the player to discard a Stadium card that's in play.
