Warning: SPOILERS about Poker Face season 1, episode 5 ahead.

Peacock’s Poker Face episode 5 introduced a character that could potentially help Charlie sort out her Caine problem, however, resorting to him might make things too easy. Since solving her friend Nat’s murder prompted Natasha Lyonne’s Charlie to live her life on the run in Poker Face episode 1, her encounters with peculiar characters and seemingly unsolvable crimes characterize the mystery drama. However, one episode 5 meeting gave Poker Face a chance to reference something from episode 1 that didn't help Charlie at the time but could now help her stop running.

The most imminent threat to Charlie in Poker Face season 1 undoubtedly comes from Sterling Frost Sr. and his henchman Cliff. However, Kazimir Caine was always presented by Poker Face as the most menacing villain, with the thing that scared Nat being big enough to have been reported on the news in Rian Johnson’s Poker Face episode 1. After all, despite Charlie being able to use Caine’s power against Sterling Frost Jr. to “hit him where it hurts,” Caine’s dealings were partially behind Nat’s murder, making his potential apprehension by the police one of Charlie’s goals. One of the characters Charlie met in Poker Face episode 5 could help make that happen.

Charlie Could Use Agent Clark & The FBI's Help In Poker Face

Simon Helberg as Luca and Natasha Lyonne as Charlie in Poker Face Season 1 Episode 05

Ben’s case agent Luca Clark (Simon Helberg) could be the FBI connection Charlie needs to bring down Caine and free herself from Frost Sr. and Cliff’s threats. Contacting the FBI with the pictures incriminating Caine that Nat took was already Charlie’s plan in Poker Face episode 1, and while it didn’t pan out according to Agent Clark’s dumbfounded answer, being closer to him could potentially help Charlie. While relying on her FBI connection could prove a too-easy solution, were she to find herself in danger and without a way out, offering Charlie’s Poker Face lie-detection gift bundled with her cooperation to the FBI as a bargaining chip could bring them to help her.

Charlie's Involvement With The FBI Could Be Good For Poker Face Season 2

Simon Helberg as Luca and Natasha Lyonne as Charlie in Poker Face season 1 episode 5

Charlie’s difficult position of being chased by Cliff on Sterling Frost Sr.’s orders is the gimmick that makes it possible for Poker Face to present new characters and different mysteries in each episode. However, Charlie’s on-the-run condition cannot last for long, especially as Cliff already came close to finding her in Poker Face episode 2 and almost captured her in Poker Face episode 4. Sooner or later, Charlie will have to confront Cliff and Sterling Frost Sr., and the only way she could escape such an imbalanced conflict would be with help from the FBI. Still, that could prove good for Poker Face season 2.

Having Charlie make a deal with the FBI to take out Frost Sr. and Caine could put her to use for the FBI’s needs in Poker Face season 2, were it to happen. While Charlie’s unusual investigative methods and her peculiar gift distinguish Poker Face from other mystery stories, having her work for the FBI could still prove successful, especially considering Luca and Charlie’s amusing dynamic. This way, having the FBI swoop in to remove Charlie from an exceptionally dangerous situation thanks to the Agent Clark connection wouldn’t feel too easy, and it could also offer a very different set of mysteries in Poker Face season 2.
