In an ode to summer, a skilled Minecraft player has created a stunning scene featuring Pokémon’s Wailord making a splashing entrance. First released in 2009 on PC, Mojang’s 3D survival sandbox title is the best-selling game of all time, having sold over 200 million copies, its success bringing adaptations on multiple platforms and spawning a spin-off series, Minecraft Dungeons.

The game has managed to capture the imagination of its fans with its creative mode, which enables fans to create massive structures without the need to collect resources or worry about sneaky Creepers ruining their hard work. An excellent canvas to create a 3D work of art, almost everything under the sun has been made in the game in the past 12 years, from a bust of Shrek made entirely out of emerald blocks, to a playable version of Minecraft, allowing people to play Minecraft within Minecraft.

Reddit user and talented Minecraft builder SirArzey has decided to welcome the imminent arrival of summer by creating an incredibly detailed Pokémon scene featuring Wailord. The dynamic scene features a Wailord happily riding in on a tsunami-sized wave, accompanied by a Magikarp. The arrival of Wailord seems to have tipped over the luxury cruise liner S.S. Anne, although it is uncertain whether the enormous Tentacruel beside it is helping steady the ship, or in the midst of attacking it. Sticking to its summertime theme, the build is surrounded by an array of palm trees, with one cleverly disguised Alolan Exeggutor stretching high above Wailord.

No stranger to building awe-inspiring designs in Minecraft, SirArzey has steadily built up a large portfolio of creations over the years, each seemingly more impressive than the last. Their more recent build featured an incredible Pokémon tower surrounded by Dragonair, Dragonite, and Druddigon. The tower appears to be part of a Pokémon-themed attraction, standing in the middle of a Pokémon Center and Poké Mart.

While the creative possibilities in the game only end with the player’s imagination, the game has also continued to keep the interest of less artistically inclined players, with the recent release of the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update, which brings a plethora of new mobs, materials, and biomes to the world. The feeling of summer has been perfectly captured in SirArzey’s impressive Minecraft build, the lively scene a playful imagining of what Wailord and their friends may get up to by the sea. Unfortunately, while the Pokémon seem to be having a good time, the same probably can’t be said for the passengers aboard the S.S. Anne.
