A brand-new Pokémon Unite game mode will let players battle, collect and control a variety of wild Pokémon. The multiplayer online battle arena typically gives fans access to a powerful lineup of playable pocket monsters, including fan-favorites like Pikachu and Charizard. However, a recent Pokémon GO datamine unveiled a new wild Pokémon game mode, and now this new mode has been officially announced.

Developed by TiMi Studio Group, Pokémon Unite typically sees two teams of five players choose their Pokémon and compete to score more points than their rivals. The free-to-play title's primary game mode lets players score points by fighting and defeating wild Pokémon, taking down enemy players or scoring goals placed across the island. Defeating wild Pokémon usually just scores points, but defeating a Legendary Pokémon grants a useful buff to the team that beat it. Pokémon GO originally launched with a handful of iconic pocket monsters to control, and over time TiMi Studio Group has gradually expanded that roster. For example, a new Pokémon Unite update added Espeon recently added Eevee's psychic evolution to the MOBA's playable lineup.

An upcoming Pokémon Unite update, announced via Twitter, will add a unique new mode called Catch 'Em Battles. The original 4v4 experience will let players capture any wild Pokémon that they defeat, allowing them to then control the creature at any point. Catch 'Em Battles will greatly expand the MOBA's list of playable characters, and each wild pocket monster will have a host of unique abilities. The mode will even let players capture and control any legendary creatures that they defeat, including Regigigas and Zapdos, which will certainly give their team a big advantage in battle. Catch 'Em Battles will be added to Pokémon Unite on May 30.

While TiMi Studio Group has released numerous free updates for the game, a new Pokémon Unite paid subscription club membership recently outraged many players. The MOBA will continue to receive free updates, which will be available to all players, but paying customers will also receive a monthly allowance of items. For $10 a month players can receive daily Aeos gem drops, access to exclusive Holowear, members-only discounts on cosmetic items and more. While the service is entirely optional, some fans are upset that a free game like Pokémon Unite is adding such an extensive microtransaction system.

Pokémon Unite puts a unique spin on Pokémon battles, and the all-new Catch 'Em Battles will create an even more unique battle arena experience. Defeating and controlling a list of wild Pokémon will let players wield unique in-game abilities, opening up a range of fresh tactics and strategies. For those craving an original experience, Catch 'Em Battles will reinvigorate Pokémon Unite on May 30.
