The developer of Pokémon Unite has announced that a new game patch has nerfed the Fairy-type Pokémon, Sylveon. Sylveon is one of the latest additions to Pokémon Unite, joining the roster of fighters earlier this week following the arrival of Mamoswine in September. Sylveon has been an immediate favorite among players, in part due to its strong attack moves.

Pokémon Unite is a 5-versus-5 MOBA in which teams battle against opponent Pokémon and score goals in short matches. The game first launched on Nintendo Switch before coming to mobile in September. Pokémon Unite has been a resounding success for developer TiMi Studio Group with over nine million downloads on Switch alone, but the release still regularly requires rebalances for its ever-growing roster of pocket monsters to ensure fair matches between players. Bugs have also been a problem for some users, with Pokémon Crustle and Lucario recently requiring a fix.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Pokémon Unite has confirmed that a balance patch dated today, October 8, will nerf two of Sylveon's moves. Both Hyper Voice and Mystical Fire will have their damage dealt decreased, making the fan-favorite fighter less over-powered in the battle arena. The balance patch, which is now live, won't affect other Pokémon characters, but those who prefer using Sylveon as their main should notice a difference the next time they log in.

The latest Pokémon Unite patch might be unfortunate for those who enjoy blasting their way through opponents with Sylveon, but overall it should improve the quality of the game. Having OP fighters can give a significant advantage to some players over others, which can lead to imbalanced and unfair matches. The developer hasn't confirmed just how much Sylveon's Hyper Voice and Mystical Fire have been nerfed by, but it should make opponent Sylveon much easier to battle against. More character buffs and nerfs are expected in the future as the game continues to grow and evolve.

Pokémon Unite has been receiving steady updates since its release, with new Pokémon being added every few weeks. A previous Pokémon Unite datamine leak has suggested that Generation One characters including Nidoking, Tauros, and Venonat could be coming to the game in the future, though the next fighters haven't yet been formally announced by the developer. Fans can keep their eyes on Pokémon Unite's official social media channels to find out who will be next to join the game's roster.
