Pokémon Unite has added a new squad feature that was released alongside the Pokémon Unite mobile release. Squads are a nice addition to Pokémon Unite, allowing up to 30 players to become part of a single Squad. Squads can be created by anyone, and, depending on the permissions for the Squad, anyone can join any Squad. Pokémon Unite does allow players to set their squads to private, meaning join requests have to be approved.

Squads are perfect for anyone who has been struggling to climb the ranked ladder on their own. As with any online experience, playing with random people who can't communicate their actions or pre-coordinate plans and roles is always a challenge. Squad helps to eliminate that struggle, giving players the ability to link up with their Squadmates before loading into a match. Additionally, Squads are a great way to find teams for Pokémon Unite tournaments, or for anyone who is looking to play as part of a team for fun instead of just solo.

To create a Squad, click on the account profile picture, navigate to "Unite Squad," and select "Create Unite Squad." The first step is going to be selecting a Squad name, and there are profanity filters in place. Next, create the description for the Squad. This will let other players know what the Squad is all about, whether it's a Squad set up for ranked, always having a team, and everything in between.

Pokémon Unite: How To Join A Squad

Pokemon Unite Battle Cover

Joining a Squad in Pokémon Unite is as easy as creating one. Repeated the same steps for creating a Squad, but this time select "Join Unite Squad." Any Squad can be searched for by its ID, team name, or tags. Searching for Squads by tags may be difficult for anyone looking for a specific Squad, but for the solo player looking to join like-minded players, it's the best way to find a competitive group. Players who like to play specific roles, such as Pokémon Unite support characters like Blissey, can join a Squad for that purpose as well.

Tags are specific identifiers in Pokémon Unite that help other players search for the Squad. In addition to the description, tags are more like key terms that players will be looking to find. So, when creating a new Squad and allowing anyone to join, consider putting tags that will help bring in players who align with what the Squad is focused on. Communicate with Squad members to build the best strategy among all 30 players (or however many join).
