The developer of Pokémon Unite has revealed the next Pokémon joining the game alongside a host of in-game Halloween celebrations. Players will be able to enjoy the spooky season with Unite's Halloween Festival, which will not only introduce new fighter Greedent, but also new skins and in-game special effects. Greedent is the latest Pokémon Unite character to come to the game, with its roster expanding steadily since launch.

Pokémon Unite released for Nintendo Switch earlier this year before coming to mobile devices just a few months later. The free-to-play game is a MOBA in which teams of five battle against each other and score goals as their favorite Pokémon. While the game launched with a fairly impressive selection of characters, many more have been added since, and with nearly 900 Pokémon in the franchise, players are eagerly awaiting new character announcements. Some reveals have come ahead of the official news thanks to datamine leaks, which can give an indication of upcoming Pokémon Unite fighters.

Revealed in a new Pokémon Unite trailer, players will soon be able to partake in spooky activities thanks to the Halloween Festival, running from October 20 to November 10. The Festival introduces the squirrel-like Normal-type Pokémon Greedent, while the game's arena and gameplay will be getting a scary overhaul. The trailer reveals pumpkin special effects used in battle, with Pokémon seemingly able to transform and use pumpkin-themed moves against their foes. New skins will also be available for both trainers and Pokémon, including pumpkin headwear carved to mimic Pikachu, as well as a candy bag and witch's hat. New styles for Pokémon include a cozy "Bonfire Style" for Slowbro, a firefighter costume for Blastoise, and a warm knitted hat and scarf set for Charizard.

The new Pokémon Unite update looks like an exciting one, but the trailer raises many questions about the upcoming content. It's not clear from the video if players who purchase Halloween skins will be able to make use of their special effects once the Festival is over, or if they'll simply become visual-only cosmetics after November. The trailer also doesn't give up too much information on new fighter Greedent, with no confirmation on the exact date it'll be available in the game.

Fans of Pokémon Unite might have questions, but there's not too long to wait until everything will become clear. With Halloween right around the corner, players will be able to take part in the Pokémon Unite Halloween Festival in just a few days' time. The event paves the way for future seasonal content, perhaps for the Holiday period and beyond. With Pokémon Unite being less than a year old, there's still lots of surprises fans likely have in store.
