The next pocket monster joining the Pokémon Unite roster is Espeon, the Psychic-type evolution of Eevee. TiMi Studio Group's free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena lets players control an ever-expanding lineup of Pokémon. Recently Pokémon Unite leaks revealed Espeon as a playable character, and now TiMi Studio Group has confirmed the Sun Pokémon will soon arrive in all its psychic glory.

Pokémon Unite launched with a number of iconic creatures, like Pikachu, Charizard and Gengar, as playable characters for use in its competitive point-based matches. After players choose their Pokémon, the MOBA groups them into two teams of five and tasks them with scoring more points than their rivals. In Pokémon Unite points are earned by defeating wild Pokémon, beating rival players or scoring at goals scattered across the map. Through free post-launch updates TiMi Studio Group has expanded Pokémon Unite's roster with new pocket monsters like Azumarill and Sylveon. Recently a Pokémon Unite datamine leak appeared to reveal upcoming features like a "Pokémon-Catching Mode" and a playable Espeon.

An announcement from Pokémon Unite (via Twitter) confirms that Espeon will be the next playable creature added to the game. While the Sun Pokémon's exact moveset has not yet been detailed, the reveal does specify that Espeon will be a Ranged Attacker that makes liberal use of psychic powers. The Fairy-type Eevee evolution Sylveon is already present in Pokémon Unite as a powerful ranged fighter and disruptor, so their moveset may indicate what fans can expect from Espeon's abilities. The Sun Pokémon is set to step into the Pokémon Unite arena on May 16.

While the game does have an abundance of free content on the way, the recent announcement of a paid Pokémon Unite subscription service led to intense backlash from fans. The live-service MOBA will continue to receive free content on a regular basis, but paying customers will receive a monthly supply of new Holowear, license trials, Chat Balloons, Gems and more. Many players feel that Pokémon Unite is already aggressive in its microtransaction system, so the new subscription service is being criticized as predatory and far too costly. Thankfully, Espeon will be available to players regardless of whether they subscribe to this service or not.

The ability to directly control Pokémon is a unique aspect of Pokémon Unite, and soon fans will be able to embody Eevee's Psychic evolution Espeon. The character's moveset promises to contain long-range attacks and some psychic trickery, no doubt making the Sun Pokémon a unique addition to the MOBA's roster. Players will be able to harness Espeon's psychic power and adorable design for themselves starting May 16.
