The James Bond film series and Pokémon might be two of the most opposite franchises around. The former is an action-packed, riveting spy saga that occasionally deals with the harsh realities of a killer's life. The latter is a feel-good children's series about monsters that fight each other.

The two properties have nearly nothing in common, but Pokémon's characters have a near-universal quality to them that makes them fit in almost any universe. With close to a thousand different monsters, it's not hard to find a few that would make sense in 007's ruthless world.

Machamp

Machamp flexes his muscles in Pokemon

Machamp is one of the strongest Fighting-type Pokémon. The humanoid mon is also one of the oldest, debuting back in Generation I and becoming a staple of the franchise's future entries.

Bond is a notoriously "manly" character, and few Pokémon exude more macho energy than Machamp. The massive Fighting-type mon would be inappropriate to take on undercover missions, but its sheer power would still make it the perfect ally in a fight.

Blastoise

Blastoise uses Hydro Cannon in the Pokémon animated series.

As far as starter Pokémon go, few are more famous in Blastoise. As one of the most iconic Pokémon from Generation I, Blastoise has a place of honor in the franchise, representing the best the franchise offers. Aside from its reputation, Blastoise is also a genuinely good Pokémon, with strong all-around stats, a Mega Evolution, and a Gigantamax form.

Blastoise would be a great partner Pokémon for any spy. Its massive blaster could cause severe damage, especially during one of those exciting action setpieces that have become a trademark of the Bond franchise. And if things get particularly difficult, 007 can always Mega Evolve it, making an already powerful Pokémon even mightier.

Dragapult

Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon are among the most powerful in the franchise, so Dragapult is already as tough as they come. However, its dual Dragon/Ghost-type makes it even more impressive, making it one of the best Pseudos in the entire franchise.

Few things are as English as James Bond, so the spy with a license to kill would surely have more than a few Pokémon from Galar. As one of the best representatives from the Britain-inspired region, Dragapult becomes the obvious choice to accompany 007 in his dangerous missions.

Lucario

Professor Kukuis Lucario in a battle in the Pokemon Anime

Lucario is very famous, a Pokémon that even non-fans of the franchise know and like. Thanks to its perfect type combination, appealing design, rich lore, and outright strength, it is arguably the most beloved mon from the Sinnoh region.

It's hard to imagine a better team-up than James Bond and Lucario. Indeed, the two are perfect together, as they're both elegant, appealing, and outright deathly. The Aura Pokémon is an ideal companion in every way and would come in handy during the spy's most dangerous missions.

Gardevoir

Fairy is arguably the best type in Pokémon, and Gardevoir is the perfect proof. This dual Psychic/Fairy-type is a powerhouse, with massive Special Attack and Defense that place it among the mightiest Pokémon in the franchise. To make things better, Generation VI gave it a Mega Evolution, turning it into an outright beast.

A crucial part of the Bond franchise is the Bond Girl. The now-iconic figure plays a major role in each of the spy's adventures, at times assisting him in his fight. Gardevoir is already a very feminine Pokémon, and its elegant, graceful shape would make her the perfect companion for Bond Girls like Vesper Lynd or Pussy Galore.

Lopunny

Mega Lopunny standing still in the Pokémon anime

Sinnoh introduced one of the most outright feminine mons, Loppunny. Lopunny is a Normal-type that can Mega Evolve, acquiring the Fighting-type and becoming considerably more impressive.

Although they can be inexperienced and graceful, Bond Girls can also be badass and deathly. Mega Lopunny would be the perfect companion for these women, accompanying them on their dangerous missions and providing backup in hand-to-hand combat.

Corviknight

A Corviknight looking down at something in the Pokémon anime

Out of all the Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII, Corviknight is one of the most memorable. The Flying/Steel crow is intimidating at first sight and has the base stat total to cement its reputation. Indeed, Corviknight is the best regional bird in Pokémon, by far.

Corviknight would be the ideal companion for James Bond for several reasons. It can assist in battle thanks to its considerable physical prowess, and it can also transport Bond from place to place, which comes in handy considering 007's adventures often take him around the globe.

Octillery

Harley's Octillery on the battlefield in the Pokémon anime.

Introduced in Generation II, Octillery is a pure Water-type and one of the franchise's most underrated Pokémon. It has a decent 480 base stat that favors Physical and Special Attack at the expense of Speed, which somewhat explains its lack of popularity.

Not many fans know it, but quite a few Pokémon draw inspiration from real-life weapons, and Octillery is one. It takes the form of an octopus but also borrows from tanks and cannons. With 007 using all kinds of weapons, he could certainly use a cannon-like Pokémon in his arsenal.

Empoleon

Barry's Empoleon poised for battle in the anime.

Empoleon might be the best final evolution for a Water-type Starter. The penguin Pokémon is a powerhouse, thanks to its perfect type combination (Water and Steel) and overall great stat distribution. Sinnoh has three incredible Starters, but there's no denying that Empoleon is a top-tier Water Pokémon.

Part of what makes Empoleon such a great fit for Bond is its very concept. After all, one of the things Bond is most closely associated with is a tuxedo, so who better to accompany the spy than the one Pokémon that's literally wearing a tux? Its blake-like flippers would also make excellent weapons in combat.

Inteleon

Gigantimax Inteleon about to attack in Pokémon Sword and Shield Pokemon

Inteleon was not particularly popular when it debuted, but time has been kind to it, and fans now consider it one of the most underrated starter Pokémon. Its shape and overall personality still give some fans the creeps, but ironically that's what makes it such a perfect fit for the Bond universe.

A literal sniper, Inteleon is already the Pokémon version of a spy. It's sleek and graceful, much like 007 himself. Inteleon could also provide some nice support on missions, and its Gigantamax form would be perfect for when things get out of hand (which they inevitably do in Bond's world).
