The Pokémon TCG has announced that it will be producing special Halloween-themed booster packs later this year. A Pokémon holiday season calendar will also appear in stores later this year, giving fans of the trading card game a daily dose of products throughout December.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is no stranger to seasonal goods and promotional events. In addition to the upcoming advent calendar, which will celebrate the holiday season with a variety of thematic cards and goods, the TCG has produced cards for a wide variety of other occasions over the years. These range from movie promo cards, like the classic Ancient Mew, to various fast-food chain collaborations. Only recently, a new Pokémon Center shop opened in the United Kingdom. Similar events in the past have prompted the release of a 'Special Delivery' promo card to mark the occasion; for instance, fans have been eagerly awaiting the distribution of the new Special Delivery Charizard via promo code.

Now Serebii reports that special Halloween-themed booster packs will be released as part of the Pokémon Company's Halloween merchandise for this year, named 'Trick or Trade' as an obvious play on Trick or Treat. While each booster is only a miniature pack containing three Pokémon cards, they will be sold in packs of 40, which are apparently labeled 'BOOster bundles.' This means that each bundle will contain a total of 120 cards. The cards featured in the packs will include Zubat, Pumpkaboo and Polteageist, alongside other spooky Pokémon which all tie into the Halloween theme. As they form a specially curated collection, these cards will all be marked "with a Pikachu Pumpkin stamp" to separate them from any full Pokémon TCG expansion's own new cards.

Pokémon TCG's Plans For The Halloween Season

According to Serebii, the new Trick or Trade BOOster bundles will be coming to stores in the US and Canada on September 1st, giving trainers plenty of time to pick up the new cards ahead of Halloween. There is no news as of yet regarding release dates in any other territories. However, The Pokémon Company has confirmed there will be Halloween merchandise available later this year in the various Pokémon Center stores in the west, including the UK. As such, there is every chance that the cards will be available elsewhere along with the rest of the seasonal products, allowing trainers to build the perfect Halloween-themed team of Pokémon.

This new collection of cards sounds like it will be a brilliant way for any fan of the Pokémon Trading Card Game to have some holiday fun this Halloween. The specially-themed boosters sound like they will be a good starting point to build a spooky deck. It should be noted that as the full card list is unspecified at present, it is hard to say just how much trading there will be with the Trick and Trade cards; it could very well be that 120 cards will be more than enough to include a few copies of every card available. But in any case, with the new Lost Origin expansion set to release around the same time, it looks like September will be a busy time for collectors.
