Pokémon Trading Card Game sets are planned out significantly in advance, so while exact cards aren’t known, it’s possible to predict what kinds of cards will release after the next set, Astral Radiance. Astral Radiance is the tenth TCG set in the Sword & Shield era. Although the full set’s title is “Sword & Shield - Astral Radiance,” it focuses more on Pokémon and Trainers found in Sinnoh and Hisui. Its upcoming release is slated for May 27.

Pokémon TCG sets include cards from across numerous Japanese OCG sets, since the Japanese sets are smaller and release more often throughout the year. Not all the cards can be included, however, leaving some to get released in later sets. Whatever cards from the most recent Japanese Pokémon sets - Time Gazer, Space Juggler, and Battle Region - aren’t included in Astral Radiance will likely be seen in a future set.

The set after Astral Radiance will be called Lost Origin, according to the Pokémon TCG Live’s database. In addition to cards from the past Japanese sets that didn’t make it into Astral Radiance, the upcoming English set will include cards from some of the next Japanese sets. The next Japanese set releases on May 13, so while not all the cards of the set are known just yet, some of the notable chase cards have been revealed. These have a good chance of making it into Lost Origin along with any alternate art variants they may have for collector appeal.

Pokémon TCG Will Continue To Focus On Hisui After Astral Radiance

After Astral Radiance, Pokémon TCG players can expect to see cards from the Japanese set Dark Phantasma. Thus far, it’s known that the set will focus on more new Pokémon and Trainers from Legends: Arceus, including Hisuian Goodra V and VSTAR, a regular Hisuian Zoroark, and Hisuian Zoroark V and VSTAR. Lake Acuity also makes an appearance in this set as a Stadium card, and Iscan and Arezu get their own Supporter cards. A Radiant Gardevoir also appears in the set; as a rare card of a popular Pokémon, it has a high chance to be prioritized and make it into Lost Origin.

After Dark Phantasma, the next Japanese OCG set will be called Lost Abyss. Based on the name similarities, it’s safe to guess that much of Lost Abyss will also form the basis of Lost Origin. The the term “origin” may also be in reference to the Origin Formes of Sinnoh’s legendary Pokémon, of which Giratina was the originator. Giratina Origin has yet to see a V or VSTAR card, while Dialga and Palkia Origin received V and VSTARs in Time Gazer and Space Juggler that are confirmed to be in Astral Radiance. It’s very likely that the Pokémon TCG will continue to focus on Hisui and Sinnoh for the time being, until the release of the Scarlet and Violet Pokémon video games.
