The Pokémon Trading Card Game's latest expansion, Astral Radiance, is packed with over 200 cards for players to collect, including rare VMAX and VSTAR collectibles. Originally announced in February, Astral Radiance is the second Pokémon card set to release in 2022 following the popular Pokémon TCG expansion Brilliant Stars. The Sword and Shield set will also debut the Radiant Pokémon mechanic for the very first time.

The Astral Radiance TCG expansion officially launches on Friday, May 27, 2022, and will release with several products such as the Darkrai Elite Trainer Box and the limited Sylveon blister packs. The May set will heavily be themed around Pokémon Legends: Arceus which launched in January, and it will include many Hisuian Pokémon from the Game Freak RPG. Collectors will be able to pull rare VSTAR cards for Hisui region starters Hisuian Typhlosion, Hisuian Decidueye, and Hisuian Samurott.

Rare Astral Radiance Pokémon Cards

Every Astral Radiance Card In The Pokemon TCG Rare Cards

The rarest collectibles in the Astral Radiance TCG expansion will be the VSTAR and Radiant Pokémon Cards. The gold secret rare Origin Forme Dialga and Origin Forme Palkia cards, in particular, will be some of the rarest items players can pull from the TCG set. Astral Radiance is also bringing back the Trainer Gallery TCG Pokémon cards which were massively popular in the Brilliant Stars expansion.

Many TCG collectors will also be chasing the wildly popular "alternate art" cards. In Brilliant Stars, the gorgeous variant of Charizard ended up being one of the set's most expensive cards to purchase months after its release. In Astral Radiance both Origin Forme's of Dialga and Palkia will also get the rare alternate art treatment as well, making them early contenders for the most valuable cards in the TCG expansion.

Although the Astral Radiance set only goes up to 189 cards on its setlist, the expansion has a ton of secret rare cards that bring its total to over 200. The expansion will also have an additional 30 Gallery Trainer cards for players to collect, making it one of the largest Pokémon Sword and Shield TCG sets ever released. Following the release of Astral Radiance, the next set to debut in the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be based on the Japanese expansion Dark Phantasma which launched in May.
