Gamestop is having yet another Pokémon giveaway, the present this time being a Dynamax crystal in Pokémon Sword & Shield. This giveaway continues a trend of recent Pokémon events happening this month.

Pokémon Sword & Shield has had several events in August 2020 involving shiny Pokémon. From August 6th to August 9th, there was a max raid event involving all of the Pikachu family that granted much higher odds of encountering a shiny Pikachu. There was also a brief time when trainers could redeem a code in order to receive a shiny Amoongus. Additionally, there's a current max raid event going on promoting water and ground type Pokémon. All of these events go to show that August is an active month for Pokémon Sword & Shield players.

As reported by Serebii.net, Gamestop's latest event allows players to download a Dynamax crystal through the Pokémon Pass app that will allow players to challenge a Gigantimax Copperajah. This raid will be located in Motostoke at the Watchtower lair, and the Copperajah will have perfect IVs in HP, attack, and special attack. To receive the crystal, players will have to use the Pokémon Pass app to download the item onto their Sword & Shield game.

Pokémon Pass has been used for a variety of different Gamestop events in the past. One of these events included receiving a shiny Solgaleo or Lunala in Pokémon Sun & Moon or Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. Another Pokémon Pass event had players receiving a shiny Pikachu or Eevee in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. In the past, Gamestop would host various Pokémon events in the form of giving out physical codes to customers. Pokémon Pass is the replacement to that system, in which all players need to do is log onto the app to receive the code that they can then redeem in their game.

The one point of concern for this type of event is having to actually go inside the Gamestop to connect Pokémon Pass to the store to receive the code. Gamestop has been known for putting its employees and customers in danger during the pandemic, and though recently Gamestop has asked customers to wear masks when entering stores, there isn't proper enforcement for that rule. With that in mind, it makes the timing of this event rather strange. Regardless, should players want to be able to fight and catch Gigantimax Copperajah in Pokémon Sword & Shield, now is the opportunity to do so.
