In Pokémon Sword & Shield, players will need to find plenty of Quick Balls useful for catching wild Pokémon as soon as the encounter begins. While there are 23 different types of Poké Balls in the game, the Quick Ball is one of the best for catching wild Pokémon and completing the Pokédex. There are four locations in the game where players should look for these useful items in addition to the single Quick Ball hidden in the grass on Route 7, just before the entrance to the tunnel.

Quick Balls have a catch rate of five on the first turn of a battle, which allows it to catch most non-legendary Pokémon before they even have the chance to attack. For reference, an Ultra Ball has a catch rate of two when players are attempting to catch Pokémon in Sword and Shield. After the first turn of the battle, the Quick Ball will return to a catch rate of one, the same as a regular Poké Ball. This ability is particularly useful for Pokémon who are prone to fleeing battle, such as wild Psychic-type Pokémon. Additionally, using Quick Balls will make catching Pokémon much faster as players do not have to find ways to reduce the health of the wild Pokémon without killing it.

Quick Balls can be purchased at the Wyndon Stadium Pokémon Center for 1,000 PokéDollar per ball, and for every ten the player purchases, they will be rewarded with a free Premier Ball. In addition to purchasing them, to find as many Quick Balls as possible, players should interact with the Ball Guy in Pokémon Sword and Shield each time they win the Championship Cup or the Galarian Star Cup as part of The Crown Tundra DLC. There is a one-in-28 chance that NPC will gift the player a set of three Quick Balls. Even if players do not receive a Quick Ball, other prizes include a Big Nugget, a Wishing Piece, some Rare Candy, and a Life Orb, all of which are worth having.

Players can also take advantage of Poké Jobs, which are missions at the Pokemon Center Rotomi that allow players to send their boxed Pokémon out on errands to gain experience, stat boosts, and several miscellaneous items in Pokémon Sword & Shield. If players accept any job with a star rating of 7, 8, or 9, there is a chance their Pokémon will return with a few Quick Balls as a reward for completing their task. The Poké Jobs change daily, so players should use this method regularly to gather as many Quick Balls as possible.

The final consistent method to earn Quick Balls requires players to purchase the Expansion Pass for the DLC. This will grant players access to the Isle of Armor, which is home to a  mysterious device at the Master Dojo. The device will transform an item into something else depending on what players placed inside the Pokémon Sword & Shield's Cram-o-matic. For example, if players insert Four Yellow Apricorns, they will have a roughly 25 percent chance of acquiring a Quick Ball. Yellow Apricorns are an item found abundantly in Berry Trees.
