A new Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass trailer confirmed additional old Pokémon returning to the games, including Kangaskhan, Tauros, and Mienshao. These are part of the more than 200 Pokémon coming back for Sword and Shield's upcoming expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.

Game Freak first revealed the Sword and Shield Expansion Pass in a January 2020 Pokémon Direct. The Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions take players to a new Wild Area-like environment, each with its own theme and Pokémon. The expansions will also feature new story content and mechanics, such as The Crown Tundra's new system that allows players to enter Max Raid Dens and battle returning Legendary Pokémon.

Joining these returning Legendaries are fan-favorite Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Garchomp, and Luxray. Players can only catch these old favorites in the expansions' new zones, but a free update at the time of the expansions' launch will allow players who don't buy the pass to transport the returning Pokémon over from past games, instead. Today's new trailer, via the official Japanese Pokémon Twitter, showcased a few additional monsters coming in the expansions.

All Old Pokémon Confirmed To Return In Sword & Shield's Expansions

Pokemon Sword and Shield Expansion

Here are all the Pokémon from previous generations confirmed to be coming in Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra expansions so far, via GameSpot and The Pokémon Company, in alphabetical order. Note that the Legendary Pokémon will only join Sword and Shield with The Crown Tundra, coming later this fall, and not all of the other returning Pokémon may be available as of The Isle of Armor's launch. This list also does not include new Galarian forms of old Pokémon, such as the Galarian Legendary bird trio seen in the expansions' initial reveal stream. Screen Rant will update this list as more returning Pokémon are revealed.
