There are so many Pokémon that exist now that it can be hard to keep track of them all. They all have such different abilities, appearances, and they are all very unique in many ways. The creativity within each Pokémon is unreal and only true fans can somewhat keep track. Since there are so many and since they are all so different, there are some that outshine others.

That is to say, there are some Pokémon that are much stronger than others. Still, the main feature that draws people into Pokémon is the way they look. Ironically, some of the most intimidating-looking Pokémon are the weakest. Then again, some of the cutest Pokémon that make everyone's hearts beat faster are the most powerful. Let's take a look at some of the Pokémon that look much less intimidating than they really are.

Jynx

The very first time that people look at Jynx, they are likely to laugh. Little do they know that this Pokémon packs a punch. Don't let her jiggling hips and red dress fool opponents because she is quite the powerhouse. Especially for a Generation 1 Pokémon.

Jynx is an odd combination of ice and psychic-type Pokémon. Some think that she appears more so as a human than a Pokémon. Jynx's stats are quite high when it comes to her speed, special defense, and special attacks. Even though she lacks in defense and attacks, she can certainly hold her own

Lapras

Lapras Pokemon floats over water

Lapras is not the strongest Pokémon in Generation 1, but it is much stronger than it looks. This water and ice-type Pokémon might look rather harmless, but it can turn on in battles.

It has high stats when it comes to Hit Points and special defense which are two very powerful stats to have at high levels. It's water attacks are very tough to recover from. Unfortunately, Lapras is very rare from being hunted so excessively. Trainers should snag one before it's too late.

Snorlax

Any Pokémon with the word "snore" in its name can't possibly be threatening right? Wrong. Snorlax is a sleepy Pokémon and is very strong. Nobody would ever be able to guess this due to its appearance. Plus, it's a normal-type and it's from Generation 1.

However, Snorlax has extremely high stats for what it looks like and for its generation. It has base Hit Points of 160 and it has high special defense and attacks. Snorlax's excessive fat prevents it from a lot of damage, and it's immune to any poison attacks. Being a lazy, out of shape Pokémon can pay off apparently.

Dragonite

Dragon Pokémon are either very scary-looking or too cute for words. Dragonite certainly falls into the cute category. However, this dragon and flying-type Pokémon's soft appearance don't match its high stats. Dragonite has very high stats for a Generation 1 Pokémon and they are also very consistent. Fighting with a consistent Pokémon is extremely beneficial.

The only stat that is rather low is its speed but that is easily compensated for with its attack stat at 134. Dragonite might look harmless but it's very powerful in battles. It's almost extremely intelligent.

Mamoswine

How strong can a stout pig-like Pokémon really be? Very strong. That is if the Pokémon is Mamoswine. This ice and ground-type Pokémon has very high stats for what it looks like. Its highest base stats are its Hit Points and its attacks which some trainers look for in Pokémon.

Some trainers might argue that these are two of the most important stats a Pokémon can have during battles. Mamoswine does not look like it can do much but its tusks can be deadly in battles.

Mew

The pink little Pokémon Mew has a cute name, cute eyes, cute color, and cute everything. However, it's not cute for opponents to battle against. This little heartthrob has some of the most consistent stats in Generation 1 which is extremely impressive.

Every single base stat is at a 100 which is sometimes better than Pokémon with high stats in some areas and low ones in others. Consistent stats are important during battles because trainers know that they will perform decently in every area. Mew is also a psychic-type Pokémon which can be brutal for opponents.

Blissey

Blissey might very-well be the most mind-boggling Pokémon out there. She looks like a harmless pink ball of love when in reality she has some of the deadliest base stats. Not to mention, she's a Generation 2 Pokémon, a normal-type, and she's under the happiness species category.

However, opponents are anything but happy when they face Blissey in a battle. This little Pokémon has a base stat of a whopping 255 for Hit Points. Blissey also has a really high special defense at 135. Ironically, her attacks and defense are beyond low. This is only fair though considering opponents can be down for the count due to her HP.

Azumarrill

Even though Azumarrill isn't the strongest Pokémon out there, it's still very strong for what it looks like. Anyone who sees Azumarrill might assume that it can barely make through one turn in a battle.

When in reality, it can stand its ground. This water and fairy-type Pokémon has fairly high Hit-Point base stats. Its other stats are rather low, but for its bulbous sparkly eyes, they are pretty darn high. Azumarrill also has a very keen sense of hearing.

Jolteon

All electric-type Pokémon are intimidating without know anything about them. Jolteon might make opponents question this since it's so cute. Jolteon might look like an innocent yellow fox, but its stats prove any opponent otherwise.

Its speed is extremely high which compensates for its lower attacks. It also has very high special attacks and special defense. Plus, Jolteon can collections over time and put out 10,000 volts at once. This gives opponents a jolt like they never expect.

Starmie

A Starmie in battle as seen in the Gen VIII games

Starmie might look like a basic purple starfish, but this thing can perform in battles. This odd Pokémon is from Generation 1 and it is a water and psychic Pokémon believe it or not. Another shocking aspect of Starmie is that its highest base stat is its speed coming in at a 115.

It has fairly high stats across the board for what it looks like that's for sure. There is a strong sense of mystery when opponents face Starmie in battle because it doesn't have a face. However, it is just as valuable for trainers to possess like any other Pokémon.
