Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is packed with pocket monsters that require a specific Evolution Item to perform their evolutions, and one of these special objects is the Water Stone. According to its in-game description, this stone is the "blue of a pool of clear water," which, along with its name, indicates the elemental type of Pokémon it affects. Many monsters have various requirements for their evolutions, such as using particular Moves or reaching a certain level of Friendship. However, those whose transformed necessitate Evolution Items like the Water Stone cannot be evolved unless the correlating object has been acquired.

Like many resources throughout Paldea, there are multiple ways to obtain Water Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. The first and easiest way to get a Water Stone is by visiting one of the multiple branches of Delibird Presents across the region. For those unfamiliar, Delibird Presents is a shop that appears in the major towns of Mesagoza, Cascarrafa, and Levincia. These stores often appear in multiple locations within the same town for easy access. After defeating the local Gym Leaders and receiving the corresponding Gym Badges, Water Stones will become available for purchase for ₽3,000 each.

The second way to get Water Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is by finding them out in the open world of Paldea. For instance, they can appear near bodies of water, such as the beaches near Levincia on the eastern side of the world map. For a guaranteed find, YouTube content creator 100% Guides has discovered a Water Stone sitting by the bank of the river behind the Gym in Cascarrafa. Depending on one's rotated perspective of the map, Trainers must head to the top or bottom side of Cascarrafa and explore the watery moat connected to the river leading away from the town. Along the grassy banks, players will find a Water Stone and the Misty Terrain TM139.

Water Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet can also be obtained as a reward from Professor Jacq of the Biology Lab for catching eighty Pokémon. Since catching pocket monsters is one of the primary activities of the game, receiving the stone as a reward is relatively unmissable. Once players have collected two Water Stones, they can use them to evolve the following Pokémon:

  • Giving a Water Stone to Eevee will evolve the Normal-type Pokémon into the Water-type Vaporeon.
  • Giving a Water Stone to Shellder will evolve the Water-type Pokémon into the Water- and Ice-type Cloyster in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
