The latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet contains a wealth of new information about the upcoming monster-collecting titles, including the Legendary creatures that players will befriend and ride. Earlier this year, Nintendo finally announced the latest generation of Pokémon with Scarlet and Violet, which will take players on a brand-new journey across a Europe-inspired open world filled with brand-new elemental creatures for aspiring Pokémon masters to battle, capture, and train.

Plenty of these new Pokémon have already been shown off in earlier Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailers, including the game's traditional Starter Trio of Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco. Other new Pokémon that have been confirmed for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are a twin pair of dragon-like Legendary Pokémon that will be exclusive to either of the game's two versions. While this choice of which game to purchase may ultimately boil down to player preference, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Legendaries will both be unique from those of past Pokémon entries by the way that players will utilize them outside of the expected Pokémon battles.

Earlier today, the official Pokémon YouTube channel released a new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet as part of the latest Pokémon Presents livestream. Among the many exciting new tidbits of information, this trailer contains is the function of the two Legendary Pokémon featured on Scarlet and Violet’s box art: Koraidon and Miradon. In contrast to the Legendaries of previous Pokémon titles, these strange reptilian beasts will serve as ridable mounts with which to explore the open world of Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region in a variety of alternate forms. Players will be able to dash along grassy fields and other environments with Koraidon and Miradon’s motorcycle-like ground form, move across water in a sort of jetski mode, or even glide through the air in the Legendaries’ flight form.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s Legendaries Koraidon & Miradon Double As Vehicles

The revelation that players can ride Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's twin Legendaries is far from the only new information shown off in today's livestream. In addition to finally naming the region that players will explore and confirming that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be the first true open-world entry in the long-running Pokémon video game franchise, the latest Scarlet and Violet trailer revealed more of the game's storyline, which will put players in the role of a newly-enrolled student at one of two color-coded academies and allow Trainers to travel the world of Paldea and challenge Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Gym leaders at their own pace. Many of the supporting characters players will interact with in Scarlet and Violet were introduced, as were a few of the new Paldean Pokémon variants and brand-new, crystal-like Terastal forms that players will be able to capture and battle with on their journey to complete their PokéDex and become the most respected Pokémon trainer in all of the world.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet appear to be shaking up the time-honored formula of the Pokémon series in many ways, including how Scarlet and Violet's two Legendaries can be used as mounts for players to freely roam the open landscape of the Paldea region. Players will only have to wait a few more months to climb on the backs of these rare and multi-formed creatures, as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are officially set to launch on the Nintendo Switch on November 18.
