A player of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has used their artistic talents to reimagine Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Starter Pokémon as villagers, with adorable results. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were announced during the recent Pokémon Presents livestream, and it hasn't taken long for fans to turn the newly-revealed pocket monsters into art.

Animal Crossing is widely regarded as one of the most creative first-party Nintendo titles available on Switch, giving users the freedom to design and decorate their island in almost any way they please. With the game itself promoting user creativity, it's perhaps no surprise to have seen a myriad of Animal Crossing-inspired artwork and crafty projects designed by the community. Previous ACNH-based real-world builds have included everything from recreations of some of the titles' most-famous furniture sets, to artwork depicting players as villagers. Some have even gone so far as to imagine their own new animal species in Animal Crossing with impressive results.

Redditor and Animal Crossing: New Horizons player fentoshops has given fans a taste of what Pokémon Scarlet and Violet villagers could look like should such a crossover happen. The user took to Reddit to share their original artwork, which depicts Gen 9 Starter Pokémon Fuecoco, Quaxly, and Sprigatito with an ACNH makeover. Their designs fit perfectly with pre-existing species of villagers in the game, with Fuecoco depicted as an alligator-type, Quaxly as a duck, and Sprigatito as a cat, almost being an exact fit for the species the Pokémon are based on.

It's unclear at this stage if an Animal Crossing: New Horizons video game crossover could be in the works with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet when the games launch later this year. It's not out of the realm of possibility for in-game ACNH content to be modeled after the Generation 9 games, with previous ACNH content crossing over with Super Mario, and prior games in the series extending their partnerships to the likes of The Legend of Zelda. Time will tell if users will be able to get their hands on Pokémon x Animal Crossing content, but for now, artwork like fentoshops' may just be enough to tide fans over.

With Pokémon Scarlet and Violet only having recently been announced, there's still lots for Nintendo and developer Game Freak to divulge on the upcoming games. Only the three Starter Pokémon from the Gen 9 roster have been shared with fans so far, with many more still to be revealed. It's possible that fentoshops could create even more Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon artwork as fans find out more on the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
