The latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has introduced Bellibolt, a new Electric-type Pokémon that resembles a frog. This new Pokémon was revealed as part of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's "Who's that Pokémon" segment, hosted by one of the new Gym leaders of the Paldea region.

Bellibolt was first teased in a trailer that introduced Iono, the Levinicia Gym Leader, who specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. Iono is portrayed as a streamer/influencer, who shows off her new Pokémon to an active audience that watches her shows in the Pokémon world. In her first trailer, Iono teased the identity of her new Pokémon, which was described as a squishy creature that wielded the power of electricity. There was speculation that this was a new Frog-like Electric-type Pokémon, as this had been mentioned in the various Pokémon Scarlet and Violet leaks that have made the rounds online.

A new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer is now available on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel, where Iono introduces Bellibolt to the world. Bellibolt is an Electric-type Pokémon that resembles a massive green frog, with power flowing through its belly, that it discharges against its foes. Iono has confirmed that Bellibolt is her partner Pokémon, so Trainers will have a chance to battle against it when they take her on in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Bellibolt Is Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Latest Electric-Type Pokémon

The official Pokémon website has also been updated with information about Bellibolt. Along with the Static Ability, Bellibolt can possess the brand new Electromorphosis Ability. Like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's scary Farigiraf Ability, Bellibolt has a powerful new weapon in its arsenal. A Pokémon with Electromorphosis has the power of its next Electric-type move boosted after it has been struck by an enemy. This means Bellibolt might work better as a slower, more durable Pokémon that performs punishing counters after setting up a buffing move. It remains to be seen whether this is a viable strategy, as fans won't know Bellibolt's stats until the game is actually released.

The reaction to Iono from the fanbase has been mixed, but the response to Bellibolt is likely to be more positive. It's a big cute frog that is shown to be powerful in battle, which means it's likely to have a lot of fans on both the casual and competitive sides. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launch in November, so The Pokémon Company will soon start ramping up the promotional machine for the games, and it's likely that Bellibolt will soon be joined by lots of new Pokémon and gameplay mechanics that are making their debut in the Paldea region.
