Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have proven to be very fun additions to the Pokémon series, but players have also been finding a lot of bizarre glitches. While a lot of games release with kinks that need to be ironed out, Scarlet and Violet have been showing off some of the strangest glitches that the franchise has seen. From models warping to confusing physics moments, players have seen a lot of unusual sights already.

While some of the game's issues have been performance-based, such as frame rate problems and lighting errors, the glitches have been far more interesting to talk about. Social media has been buzzing with the weirdest glitches that fans have encountered during their playthroughs. Players could be enjoying Pokémon Scarlet or Violet when all of a sudden the game surprises them by breaking its own rules in a way that they couldn't have predicted. Unlike Pokémon BDSP's glitch cloning, these glitches don't offer any advantages to those that discover them. They may be flaws, but it's hard to deny that they can be fascinating to watch in motion.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Glitches - A Character Twists In Incomprehensible Ways

One Pokémon Scarlet and Violet glitch documented by Twitter user @Nata3Pit takes place in an otherwise peaceful moment. Two trainers are standing idle, leaving the game with relatively little that it needs to process at that moment. That doesn't keep it from finding a way to break, though. For some unexplained reason, one of the trainers sticks one arm out similar to a T-pose while the other spins too fast for the game to show all the frames. This on its own would be worthy of documenting, but it continues by having the character's head start spinning around as well, followed by their torso. Scarlet and Violet's characters look weird compared to previous games, but this twisting nightmare is beyond the pale.

Arguably the most confusing thing about this glitch is how it's happening to a character that is standing still. While animation glitches are nothing new, usually they involve a game's physics or models reacting funnily to a certain movement or action. In this case, there doesn't seem to be anything happening that would cause such a reaction. The character is twisting themselves like a pretzel with no outside interference. This is one of the more bizarre-looking glitches that has appeared so far, and that's amplified by how there doesn't seem to be much of an explanation for how it happened in the first place. Just like Pokémon Home's weird Professor Grand Oak, it has to be seen in order to be believed.

Riding Miraidon In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Turns A Player Into A Giant

Koraidon and Miraidon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are two of the most unique legendaries so far, both for being ridable and staying with the player throughout the game. They also happen to be related to one of the game's more inexplicable model glitches, which was shared by @jigaIang the other week. In a fairly prominent piece of game footage, a player mounts and dismounts their Koraidon a couple of times. However, when another player mimics that feat with Miraidon, their trainer model stretches to terrifying levels, turning them into a giant who can barely fit on the screen. The end result is scarier than most Ghost-type Pokémon.

It's not clear whether the first Pokémon Scarlet and Violet player getting on Koraidon had any effect, or if they did so to demonstrate that they weren't affected by the glitch before their friend showed it off. What isn't questionable is how jarring the sudden model stretching was, especially since the game seemed perfectly fine until the moment they hopped on Miraidon. That would be a shocking sight to see in the middle of a playthrough, especially if one had been playing for a while with no problems.

Pokémon In Scarlet & Violet Can Fall Into A Lake

One of the best parts of the new games is the aspects of the battle system that showed how Scarlet and Violet learned from Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Rather than having to transition into a battle screen, Pokémon battles take place right where the player encounters them in the overworld. As it turns out, there are a few unexpected environmental hazards that a player likely wouldn't expect to find. One good example comes in this video captured by @GenerousScales, which sees a Fuecoco battle a Paldean Wooper that was found in a small lake. Fuecoco stands at the side of the lake, sliding down little by little until the end of the first turn, where it falls into the lake and off the screen.

There's something inherently funny about seeing Fuecoco sliding into the water like it's having a fun day at the lake. Judging by reactions, it seems like a lot of players have experienced something similar with their own Pokémon sliding into the lake when they try to have a battle on the edge. Unlike the Sapphire glitch which was discovered by a fish, this glitch makes a player's Pokémon act like a fish. This glitch's cause is clearer than most others, and it's one that can seemingly be executed at will provided the player can start a battle at the lake. It wouldn't be surprising if more players tried to make it happen in their own games.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Glitches Can Cause Players To Fall Through The World

One of the most surprising Pokémon Scarlet and Violet glitches - as found by @KrakenMare77 - showed itself near the beginning of the game. Early on, after the player meets their box legendary for the first time and survives a trip to the Inlet Grotto, the player has to drop off the ledge to get back on the path to the lighthouse. However, when one player in particular tried this, they instead fell through the ground, getting a look at the Grotto from the outside as they plummeted past the game's limits. It's a moment that makes it easy to understand why Nintendo is offering Scarlet and Violet refunds.

Players falling through the floor is a glitch that has been seen in a lot of games, but it still surprises players when it happens. The player has no real choice to go anywhere but off the ledge, and somehow they go straight through the island instead. The most reasonable explanation would be that they slipped through a seam between the flat ground and the ledge. That doesn't change how frustrating it can be when it happens, though.

While Scarlet and Violet are overall great Pokémon games, there's no question that a lot of glitches ended up making it to release. Although some are mostly harmless - similar to Pokémon's famous Missingno glitch - hopefully the game's issues will be solved with updates soon. In the meantime, it's hard not to marvel at some of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's most absurd glitches.
