One unnecessarily angry pocket monster that Trainers will often encounter in the caves of Paldea in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is Yungoos, a feisty mongoose that evolves into Gumshoos once specific conditions have been met. Yungoos can be found all across the underground regions of Paldea's provinces. It is implausible that players will not have encountered them at least once on their journey. While its stats are low, the Yungoos's Atk is surprisingly high for a weak pocket monster. Likewise, Gumshoos's primary stat is also a high Atk, making it a good combatant against those susceptible to Normal-type Moves.
To evolve Yungoos into Gumshoos in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must have the Yungoos reach Level 20 during the day. "Day" in this context refers to the in-game hours, not the time of day registered on the players' Nintendo Switches. In-game days take around 35 minutes to complete an entire cycle, so it should not be too long before the sun is up in the Paldean sky. Suppose a Trainer's Yungoos reaches Level 20 after nightfall. In that case, players can simply level it to Level 21 after it becomes daytime to proceed with the evolution.
Evolving Yungoos into Gumshoos in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
For further clarification, YouTuber Quick Tips stated that their Yungoos did not evolve at Level 20 during the morning hours, even when the sun was in the sky in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Therefore, it appears that the optimal hour to perform Yungoos's evolution in Scarlet and Violet into Gumshoos would be midday.
However, it is hard to know since most players might have trouble interpreting the in-game clock, as it lacks details. Moreover, Scarlet and Violet do not offer the mechanic of changing the time of day like Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Accordingly, players can do nothing but wait several minutes for it to become daytime to evolve their Yungoos.
Those attempting to evolve Yungoos into Gumshoos in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet after reaching the endgame or postgame should have no trouble spending their large stock of EXP Candy accumulated throughout their playthrough. On the other hand, newer or more casual players still progressing through the main campaign might need to level Yungoos via the traditional method of equipping it to their party and bringing it out for battle in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. If this is the case, these fans are encouraged to use Yungoos against any type of elemental pocket monster except Fighting-types since that is Normal-type Yungoos's weakness.
