Petilil is a Grass-type pocket monster in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet that evolves into Lilligant once it has been given a specific Evolution Item. Stat-wise, neither Petilil nor Lilligant are fit for endgame or postgame Trainer Battles and Tera Raids. However, their beautiful leafy aesthetic and dainty appearance is sure to brighten any Trainer's day. Petilil can be found along the grassy hills of the South Province (Area Four), but it also spawns near the coastline in Areas One and Two of the West Province. If Trainers need to weaken the monster before they catch it, it is recommended that they use Fire-, Ice-, Poison-, Flying-, or Bug-type Movesets.
Once Trainers have caught a Petilil in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they can evolve it into Lilligant by giving it a Sun Stone, the same Evolution Item used in Legends: Arceus. There are multiple ways to get this special stone, with the first being exploration. While the exact locations of every Sun Stone spot have yet to be discovered, there are sites such as the mountain pass of West Province (Area One) where players can find a single Sun Stone by a ridge overlooking the Asado Desert.

Another great source of guaranteed Sun Stones that many in the community will recommend is the Artazon Gym Test, during which participants are tasked with finding and subduing a group of Sunfloras. These Sunflora will drop Sun Stones, which can then be given to Petilil for its evolution into Lilligant in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
The third known means of acquiring a Sun Stone would be the Porto Marinada Auction, which is less reliable than the previous two methods. However, it is still a good source of valuable resources like Ultra Balls or rare Evolution Items such as the Sun Stone.
Additionally, catching Petilils and Lilligants is also an excellent way to get Petilil Leaves in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. For those unfamiliar with this resource, it is a crafting material used to create specific TMs at TM Machines found at Pokécenters. More specifically, Petilil Leaves can be used to craft TM020 (Trailblaze), TM033 (Magical Leaf), and TM131 (Pollen Puff).
All three of these Moves can be learned by Petilil and Lilligant. Therefore, suppose Trainers are looking for a decent Grass-type Move to use against certain Ground-, Rock-, or Water-type pocket monsters. In that case, giving Trailblaze or Magical Leaf to Lilligant can be a Super Effective way to win low to mid-level Tera Raids against specific opponents in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
