Quick Links

The Dusk Stone is an evolution item found in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Originating in Generation 4 and brought to Generation 9, Mismagius and Honchkrow are needed to complete the Paldean Pokedex. With several locations and ways to obtain the Dusk Stones, trainers do not have to worry about trading for another or choosing one of the two Pokémon. Unfortunately, although trainers get to use a Dusk Stone on Misdreavus and Murkrow, Litwick's evolution chain which requires this stone as well is not native to the Paldea region unless introduced in a future DLC.

Unlike the other evolution stones that can be purchased from in-game stores, the Dusk Stone will take more time to find. To start looking for the Dusk Stone, it is recommended that trainers develop their ridable Koraidon or Miraidon more from battling the Titan Pokémon. Each upgrade gives trainers more terrain to travel as one of the pre-set stones is found in a mountainous area which is easier if they can climb or glide. However, if trainers are lucky enough and are careful about picking up drops in the game they might be able to get their hands on one sooner.

Fixed Locations to Find the Dusk Stone

Dusk Stone behind Gym Montenevera

The first fixed location for the Dusk Stone in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is in the town of Montenevera. Go all the way to the top of the city where the stage and the gym is located. Behind the gym there will be a glowing Pokeball that contains a Dusk Stone.

The second guaranteed location is in the West Province Area 3 near Cascarrafa Town, the same area where trainers can catch a Ditto. Go east of the city where the beginning of the river is, trainers can then find a glowing Pokeball under a shady cliff.

The Dusk Stone at the Auction House

Pokémon BDSP: Where to Find Dusk Stone (& What It’s For)

Porto Marinada, the trade port for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Paldea region, holds auctions that can give trainers a Dusk Stone. The city is reached by swimming up a river in East Province Two. Once the Water Gym leader is beaten, trainers can access the Auction House for rare items.

If the Dusk Stone is not available that day in game, re-rolling for items is fairly easy with a few tips given by author Wolf Knight from SamuraiGamers. However, without using these tips and tricks trainers might have to pay a hefty sum for a Dusk Stone if they do not know how it works in game. Evolution items like the Sun Stone and Shiny Stone can also be obtained with this method.

Finding Dusk Stones Later in the Games

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Professor Jacq With Shiny Charm

Another method of obtaining a Dusk Stone is by finishing the main three storylines and accessing Area Zero of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. However, this might take a long time, so trainers need to have patience. Take a strong Pokémon to Area Zero and use the Let's Go feature to search areas near the caves of the Zero Gate.

The Pokémon picking up glittering items should end up eventually with a Dusk Stone. The final method of obtaining the Dusk Stone is by completing 100 PokeDex entries in the game. Open up the PokeDex app made by the Biology teacher Jacq, who gives trainers the Shiny Charm, and go to Pokedex Milestones by pressing the X button with the trophy icon.
