Based on when Pokémon Sword and Shield's DLC was released, when could Pokémon Scarlet and Violet see its own DLC launched to the public? Scarlet and Violet have proven to be a massive success for the franchise from a gameplay and financial standpoint. Even with the myriad of bugs and issues the game launched with, the success Generation 9 found has shown the ongoing popularity of the series. This success was also hugely important when compared to the somewhat rocky reception Generation 8's Sword and Shield received.

Pokémon Sword and Shield received its DLC the year following its launch. The first expansion, The Isle of Armor, launched on June 17, 2020, with the second, The Crown Tundra, launching on October 22, 2020. These DLCs only added a few new Pokémon but did bring back already existing ones. Some leaks about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have been circulating, but nothing is concrete.

When To Expect Pokémon Scarlet & Violet DLC

The key to speculating when Scarlet and Violet will receive DLC is whether it will get one or two expansions. If only one DLC is planned, a good estimation would be June or July 2023, the beginning or middle of summer. If two DLCs are planned for Scarlet and Violet, the first could likely still release in the summer, with the second launching closer to the end of 2023, perhaps October at the earliest.

Why Summer & Fall 2023 Are Likely Release Dates For Scarlet & Violet DLC

These dates allow Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to capitalize on a summer release schedule that is usually light, as well as get ahead of the holiday rush, and they also line up with the pattern established by Sword and Shield. Scarlet and Violet released in late November, just like Sword and Shield, and the latter's DLC expansions came seven and 11 months later. Additional content of a similar scope to The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra could theoretically see Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's potential DLC release within a similar timeframe, though the games' expanded open world may conceivably alter such development timelines.

Though it seems unlikely, there is a chance that a third DLC could be planned, but a release date for that would likely be pushed to 2024. Official confirmation for any planned DLC is likely on the way, leaving it up to a waiting game with Game Freak. There is also not much information since Gen 8 was the only Pokémon game to see large DLC. However, it is undoubtedly possible to speculate any Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC dates based on Pokémon Sword and Shield's.
