The Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is home to many powerful Pokémon, both new additions and returning favorites. While players can encounter hundreds of Pokémon in this open-world region, one particularly powerful Pokémon can only be encountered via Seven-Star Tera Raid Dens. Trainers recently had the chance to fight and capture a Dragon Tera Type Charizard, providing a limited-time opportunity to add this Gen 1 starter to their team. This event is set to return starting on December 15, meaning players still have time to prepare. However, with so many new Pokémon roaming the Paldea region, is Charizard still worth capturing?

For most players, the short answer to this question is yes. As trainers wait for Scarlet and Violet to receive more performance improvements, many of them will spend hours clearing out Tera Raid Dens in the hopes of collecting rare materials and strong Pokémon. Considering that the Seven-Star Tera Raid Charizard comes at level 100, Charizard owners should have no trouble taking on Scarlet and Violet's toughest raids. With this in mind, defeating Charizard is easier said than done. Charizard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet makes for an incredible battle partner, but capturing it requires trainers to already have a strong Pokémon of their own.

Tera Raid Charizard Is Incredibly Powerful In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Before players attempt to defeat this extremely powerful Charizard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they will want to make sure they have a Pokémon suited for the battle. Considering this Charizard knows Fire-, Flying-, and Dragon-Type moves, trainers will want to use a strong Water- or Fairy-Type Pokémon, such as Azumarill or Dachsbun. Azumarill is both a Water- and Fairy-Type, granting them fantastic defensive potential.

After players learn how to evolve Fidough into Dachsbun, they can take advantage of Dachsbun's unique ability called Well-Baked Body, which causes Fire-Type moves to deal no damage. Given the fact that Charizard's level is maxed out, it is in trainers' best interest to raise their Pokémon to the level cap as well. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Charizard may have incredibly high stats, but they are no match against a trainer with the right counter.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Catch Rate For Tera Raid Battle Charizard

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Dragon Charizard Raid Ongoing in December for Two Part Event Limited Time

After players have defeated Charizard in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, they will come to find that this particular Pokémon is stronger than its peers. The Tera Raid Charizard comes with perfect IVs in all of its stats, making it an ideal candidate for competitive battling. This also makes Charizard an excellent breeding partner for players seeking to build teams for online battles. If all of this wasn't enough, Tera Raids feature a 100% catch rate. This means players can keep their Charizard in whichever Poké Ball they prefer, even the most useless Poké Balls available.

Charizard has set a high bar as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's first Seven-Star Tera Raid Pokémon, providing both a formidable fight in addition to an incredibly useful reward. While Paldea has plenty of fantastic new Pokémon available for trainers to choose from, this limited-time Charizard should make an excellent addition to any player's team, whether they're a Gen 1 veteran or a Pokémon newcomer.
