The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet box art has been officially revealed, and Game Freak has given players their first look at the Generation 9 Legendaries Koraidon and Miraidon. In February, Pokémon fans around the world were surprised when Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were announced to be launching on the Nintendo Switch in 2022. After months of anticipation, Game Freak finally revealed the box art for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the new mascot Legendary Pokémon that players will be able to catch in each version of the game.

On June 1, The Pokémon Company released the second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on its official YouTube channel. The short video showed off a handful of new Gen 9 Pokémon and revealed the release date for the highly anticipated RPGs. The trailer also gave fans new footage of the adorable Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. However, the trailer concluded with one last surprise when it unveiled the box art for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the Gen 9 Legendaries.

When Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release on Friday, November 18, players will be able to encounter Gen 9's Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon. Legendary Pokémon Koraidon is the box mascot for the Pokémon Scarlet version of the game, while Miraidon will be the Legendary exclusive to the Pokémon Violet edition. As usual, players will need to think carefully about which Legendary they want if they don't plan on buying both versions.

In the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, the new box art Legendaries were finally shown and were revealed to be two dragons. While Game Freak hasn't announced their Pokémon type yet, it seems likely that both Gen 9 Legendary mascots are Dragon-types based on their appearances. Both Legendaries have drastically different designs with Scarlet's Koraidon looking like a typical Dragon, while Violet's Miraidon looks to be made from futuristic parts such as its digital eye and metal neck. In May, a Gen 9 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendary leak claimed that both box mascots would be Dragon/Fighting and Dragon/Electric, although the new trailer hasn't confirmed that. The latest trailer can be viewed below:

On the official Pokémon Scarlet And Violet website, the two Gen 9 Legendaries are described as "having powers that far surpass those of other Pokémon," but details about Koraidon and Miraidon are still shrouded in mystery. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will officially release on November 18 on the Nintendo Switch and will introduce a new generation of Pokémon to the Game Freak franchise. While players have gotten their first look at Gen 9's Legendary Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, there are still many things that have yet to be revealed such as the name of the Pokémon Gen 9 region. But fans of Dragon-type Pokémon look to be in for a treat by the looks of the new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries.
