Pokémon Presents in February 2023, a celebration of Pokémon Day, brought forth a good amount of news for the franchise’s fans. The new information revolves around titles for Nintendo Switch, like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, multiplatform games, such as Pokémon Unite and Pokémon Café ReMix, as well as ongoing and upcoming mobile games, Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep. Even a new animated series was revealed during the presentation.

The Pokémon Presents in February 2023 was not as ground-breaking as the one in 2021, which saw the revelation of Pokémon Legends: Arceus and the remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, for example. However, the 25-minute Pokémon Day presentation brought sufficient news to fill another full year of Pokémon, even if Pokémon Sleep’s release date or new sync pairs in Masters EX do not seem as exciting as brand-new titles.

A new Pokémon animated series was shown during the Pokémon Presents livestream on Pokémon Day in February 2023. The series, called Pokémon Concierge, is a collaboration between both The Pokémon Company and Netflix. It will not follow the events from any of the main games, such as the stories told in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, but will tell a new story. The animation style will be stop-motion rather than traditional anime.

Pokémon Concierge is set in the Pokémon Resort and follows the story of said concierge, Haru. The animated show will show her adventures as an employee at the Resort and how she interacts with the different Pokémon that attend the location. According to Pokémon Presents, the animation studio behind the production is Dwarf Studio. Pokémon Concierge does not have an estimated release date but is “coming soon,” according to Netflix’s statement during the presentation.

Pokémon Unite, Café ReMix, & Masters EX Were Shown At Pokémon Presents

After that, February 2023's Pokémon Day livestream showed the new additions that are already happening in Pokémon Unite, such as Zacian as a playable character and the correlated events. Creatures from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s Paldea region are arriving to Pokémon Café ReMix, including the starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. The game will also receive new dishes inspired by the Generation 9 games. Nintendo announced that players will receive a complimentary Greninja Great Chef outfit for free if they log in by March 17.

The mobile gacha game, Pokémon Masters EX, is celebrating three and a half years since launch, and in that effort is featuring regional Champions as sync pairs in the gacha system, such as Cynthia, Steven Stone, and Leon. Additionally, the game is getting new sync pairs focused on the Galar region, like Marnie and Galarian Moltres, and Hop and Galarian Zapdos. As shown in Pokémon Presents, there are also login events that grant players additional rewards, such as a free 10-Pair Ticket Scout every day.

Pokémon Presents Confirmed Sleep’s Release Window

While an official date was not confirmed, Pokémon Presents confirmed Pokémon Sleep’s release window. The mobile app will arrive in Summer 2023, meaning players will be able to start using it sometime between June and September. Pokémon Sleep will monitor the player's sleeping style, and with that, they will be able to encounter Pokémon when they wake up. With different sleeping types, new Pokémon and their own exclusive sleeping styles will start to appear, making this a different type of collecting game.

Along with it for Pokémon Day, Nintendo revealed the Pokémon GO Plus+ accessory, which is expected to launch on July 14. The device can be used with both Pokémon Sleep and Pokémon GO. Pressing the button before sleeping and once the player has awoken will help measure their sleep data for the mobile app. Pokémon GO’s fast catching system will also be facilitated by the device, along with spinning Poké Stops. By linking the device with Pokémon GO, players will also get an exclusive night cap Snorlax. Pokémon Presents showed that the Plus+ device will receive more functionalities in the future to allow the use of Sleep’s data in Pokémon GO.

Through online play, Trainers will be able to catch the other version’s exclusive new Paradox Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet. Only one copy of each can be captured per save data. The event is already live, but the end date for it has not been announced.

Pokémon Day also brought the announcement that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be somewhat compatible with Pokémon GO. Players of the mobile game will be able to transfer postcards to the Nintendo Switch games and, in doing so, be able to encounter different patterns of Vivillon in the Switch games. Additionally, they will be able to encounter the Roaming Forme Gimmighoul in GO. With 999 coins, Gimmighoul can be evolved into Gholdengo. Once the Pokémon HOME support functionality is running, players will be able to transfer the otherwise unobtainable Roaming Forme Gimmighoul into Scarlet and Violet.

Lastly, the Pokémon Presents in February 2023 finally revealed the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLCs. The Teal Mask is the first in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion pack, and should arrive in Fall 2023. The content will take Trainers on a school trip to the land of Kitakami, where they will encounter a new story, characters, and Pokémon, including Monkidori, Okidogi, Fezandipiti, and Ogerpon.

The other DLC for Scarlet and Violet showed during the Pokémon Day livestream is The Indigo Disk. The second half of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is set to arrive in Winter 2023. It will make Trainers become exchange students at Blueberry Academy, an underwater sister school to Naranja and Uva Academies, where Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's midterms and finals take place. The Legendary Pokémon revealed for this expansion is the previously leaked Terapagos, a turtle-like creature that has a connection to all 18 Pokémon types.

Both expansions of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero pack for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will also feature some returning Pokémon from previous Generations. These include a few fan-favorite Pokémon, such as Milotic, Metagross, and Ninetails. The entire list of Pokémon related to the DLCs, both old and new, has not yet been revealed. The DLCs were the highlight of the Pokémon Presents in February 2023, but the event itself had exciting news that should keep fans entertained for the following year.
