With Pokémon being around for over two decades now, there are a ridiculous amount of Pokémon at this time. The series is only going to continue to produce new and fresh ideas, which is great to see. An exciting element about these Pokémon is that they all belong to certain Pokémon types, which in turn, gives them their own set of attacks. An interesting one that gamers seem to overlook at times is the Normal-type classification.

Yet, even with this being so, it is clear that some of the Pokémon in it belong elsewhere. Some of them just do not fit the description of being a Normal-type Pokémon, and this makes it challenging to remember that they are. Also, it sometimes can be disappointing when they are only this type, as they could have worked so much better with another set of attacks, too.

Whatever the specific reasons may be for each Pokémon, it is apparent that certain ones just fit a different type so much more.

Chansey

Chansey from the Pokémon series

Upon first glance, one may assume that Chansey is a Fairy-type. This is an understandable assumption, as it is strikingly similar to Clefairy, while also being pink in color. However, it actually is a Normal-type entirely. It is a strange fact about this specific Pokémon, as nothing about it necessarily gives off that vibe.

Pidgeot

Pidgeot from the Pokemon series

Although it is understandable that Pidgey is part Normal-type, it is interesting when it comes to Pidgeot. This is the final form of Pidgey, and when it comes to its appearance, it is far mightier than any real-life bird. That is where the Normal-type label becomes a bit strange for it.

Therefore, it would have been interesting if its evolution gave it stronger powers. Pidgeot honestly looks like a bird that could be a Fire-type, had ot been in a later generation of the series.

Rattata

Rattata from Pokemon tv series

Many fans of this franchise consider Rattata as being among the most boring Pokémon. Based on its name and appearance, it is easy to comprehend that it is a rat, but it would have been so much cooler had they have done more.

With its abrasive purple color and that rats are known to be sickly animals, perhaps they could have made it a Poison-type instead. That would have made it better in battle, while simultaneously giving it a more complete identity.

Persian

Persian from the Pokemon series

Persian is quite the intimidating Pokémon, so it is a bit disappointing that it is only a Normal-type. It seems as though that it actually possesses qualities that would make it a stupendous Fire-type, instead.

When using it in battle, it can sometimes be a bit underwhelming because of its lack of special attacks. Although it looks like a powerful Pokémon, it sadly does not measure up to the best of Generation I.

Lickitung

Lickitung from the Pokemon tv series

Nothing about Lickitung is normal, yet it is a member of this classification. The series could have went down so many different paths with this odd creation, so its Normal-type label actually can be considered as disappointing.

With its pink color, it could have been a Fairy-type like many others. It even could have been a Water-type because it somewhat looks like a sea creature, too.

Ursaring

Ursaring from the Pokemon tv series

Ursaring is a monstrous Pokémon that every gamer wants to obtain. It is understandable, as it is immensely strong in battle, while also being extremely cool looking in the process. Yet, it is weird that it is only a Normal-type.

When a Pokémon as large as this presents itself, it always seems as though it warrants another type of attack skills. Thus, it is hard not to wish that Ursaring was also maybe, a Ground or Fighting-type.

Exploud

Exploud from the Pokemon series

Exploud is another Normal-type Pokémon that seems to completely be the opposite of that. This is just based on its appearance alone, as it possesses a unique color set of purple and yellow.

It has a look that screams Poison-type, but a typing like that wouldn't really fit with it being a Pokémon based around sound. However, it could possibly work as an electric type as it has a similar vibe to Toxtricity.

Porygon-Z

Porygon-Z is certainly a Pokémon that deserves to belong to a different type. It has technological elements to it, so it honestly would have made far more sense for it to be an Electric-type.

It also does not help that it looks, unlike any real living thing, either. Thus, it is hard for anybody to assume that it is a Normal-type at first glance. It seems better suited to go basically anywhere else.

Pyroar

Pyroar is a very intriguing Pokémon, as it is lion-like creature that has the ability to fend off foes with fire attacks. However, what fans may forget sometimes is that it also is a Normal-type, too.

It seems as though that this classification for it is honestly not needed, as it is clearly meant to be a Fire-type. It is what makes up its identity primarily, while also simultaneously providing its best powers.

Miltank

Miltank from the Pokemon series

This series has a tendency to make pink Pokémon Fairy-types, so it is sometimes hard to remember that Miltank is actually a Normal-type. This is where this Pokémon sadly becomes a bit boring, which is a shame.

Although it certainly is cute in appearance, it does not hold much originality when it comes to its attacks. This is where this Pokémon does not seem to succeed in battle as well as it could have if it were a different type.
