Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be released on November 19th, 2021, but Nintendo has already promised players several free items that will be available through the game’s Mystery Gift function. Mystery Gifts have been featured in the main series of Pokémon games since Gold & Silver and grant players event-exclusive Pokémon and items.
Players can receive Mystery Gifts from friends, local wireless connection, or the internet. However, while the Mystery Gift function was immediately available in recent games like Sword and Shield, Nintendo has stated that it takes approximately two hours of playtime in order to access the function in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which is similar to the original Diamond and Pearl games.
In order to use the Mystery Gift function, players must make sure that their Nintendo Switch is connected to the internet and their game is updated to the latest version. Receiving Mystery Gifts also requires a Nintendo Account, but it does not require the player to have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Mystery Gifts can be accessed from the game’s menu once the option has been unlocked in-game.
How To Unlock Mystery Gifts In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
To receive Mystery Gifts in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, players must make it to Jubilife City, which they can get to after defeating the first gym leader. At the city’s TV station, players can speak with the producer on the second floor, who will ask a series of questions. Answering these questions correctly will unlock the option to receive Mystery Gifts from the main menu once the player saves their game. When the producer asks the player’s opinion on TV, the correct response is “EVERYONE HAPPY,” and when asked for feedback about TV, the player must answer “WI-FI CONNECTION.”
Special items and Pokémon that are available via the Mystery Gift function are only available while the events are live, and they can’t be acquired after the event window closes unless another player is willing to trade them. The first Mystery Gift event will begin at the game’s launch and last until February 21, 2022. Players do not need to pre-order the game in order to claim the first event’s Mystery Gifts.
Players who purchase either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl before February 21 will be able to receive a free Manaphy egg that can be hatched into the legendary Pokémon. In addition, the Pokémon Platinum outfit will also be available via Mystery Gift until February 21. Both of these gifts will be available under the "Get via Internet" option of the Mystery Gift function until the event closes, giving players three months after the game’s release to claim them.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will be available on Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.
