Pokémon Masters is getting a visit from everyone’s favorite bad guys Jessie, James, and Mewoth, when Team Rocket invades for a limited time event. Team Rocket has been a series mainstay since the very first Pokémon games, with fan-favorite villain trio Jessie, James, and Meowth making their debut in the original Pokémon anime.

After a somewhat rocky launch plagued with server issues, Pokémon Masters has had a steady stream of updates adding new content for mobile trainers. Events frequently add new sync pairs - duos of trainer and Pokémon to add to the player’s roster - and limited time story events based around popular characters from the Pokémon universe. More advanced mechanics have also come to the game since launch, like an egg-hatching feature that let players get new Gen 1 starter Pokémon and in the later introduction of series staple shiny Pokémon to give trainers a new reward to grind for.

The latest update to Pokémon Masters adds a special treat for long-time Pokémon fans, adding the notorious Team Rocket trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth to the game. According to a press release from developer DeNA, players will have until September 16th to play the new Double Trouble event and help Team Rocket find a shiny Celebi, a rare Mythical Pokémon. Anyone who completes the limited time event will get to add Jessie and Arbok, a new Poison-type sync pair, to their ranks.

Pokemon Masters Sync Pair Guide Potential Increase

While Team Rocket will be sticking around for the next few months, Pokémon Masters also has a few recent updates that will be leaving the game by the end of July. Until July 23rd, the Tech-type Lucy and Seviper sync pair and the Poison-type Plumeria and Salazzle sync pair will be available in the sync pair Spotlight Scout. A Poison-type training event is also available until July 23rd. Leaving a few days earlier is the Legendary Arena, where players can currently battle the Legendary Pokémon Cobalion in a challenge battle with limited sync pairs available.

Pokémon Masters frequently rolls out new story events and sync pairs, meaning there’s often new content to check out, but it can also be easy to miss for anyone who’s not paying attention. There are quite a few new additions to the game in July, but none as anticipated as the arrival as Jessie, James, and Meowth. The Double Trouble Team Rocket event is fortunately sticking around for quite a while, as it’s one that lots of Pokémon Masters have been hoping would arrive in the game for a while now.
