Since the dawn of Pokémon games over 20 years ago, players have always found ways to exploit, hack and cheat the system - and the same thing applies to the save editor in Pokémon Let's Go. Pokémon Let's Go released last month on the Nintendo Switch; the game follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, allowing players to progress through the game by catching Pokémon and battling other trainers.
The idea is to "catch 'em all," or so the Pokémon theme song says, and becoming the best Pokémon trainer there ever was. Throughout the game, players also have access to special items that help them with catching creatures, as well as finding hidden areas where they can get access to legendary Pokémon. It might sound simple enough, but Pokémon remains more popular than ever: Pokémon Let's Go sold over 3 million copies in its first week, setting a new record for game sales on the Nintendo Switch.
Although Pokémon Let's Go offers its share of challenges, some players prefer to indulge in a little cheating to become the best there ever was. And as long as that cheating doesn't come at the expense of others, there really isn't much harm in it. One of the best ways to get a little extra help in the game is by using the PKHeX program, which is now available for Pokémon Let's Go. This version of PKHeX allows players to edit their Pokémon Let's Go save files. That means they have access to editing their Pokémon, as well as trainer battles, encounters, inventory, items and more. Players interested in trying it out can do so over at the Project Pokémon website.
The creators of PKHeX do make a note that they do not support or condone any kind of cheating that affects other players. They also ask that players not use their hacked Pokémon in battle or trade with other players who aren't at least aware that these creatures are hacked Pokémon.
There are ways for Pokémon Let's Go players to progress through the game without hacks, although they might need a guide on how to get through the Rock Tunnel or tips on how to get past the Tower Ghost. Using walkthroughs and guides is a perfectly acceptable way of playing the game because everyone needs a little help at one time or another.
