The best way to raise the player's Star Rank in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is to capture as many Pokémon as possible. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a massive departure from the mainline series in how it handles its story progression. In this title, the game is broken up into different missions, and players will have to explore the vast corners of the Hisui region to uncover all of its secrets. After selecting a partner Pokémon in Arceus, the player will be able to begin building their Star Rank.

There are 10 different Star Rank levels in Legends: Arceus, each with its own challenges and rewards. After exploring the area, the player will be able to turn in their survey for the day. This will tally how many Pokémon Research Points have been earned during this trip. There are many different ways to earn more Pokémon Research Points throughout the game, but after getting enough to level up players should visit Captain Cyllene in the Galaxy Hall within Jubilife Village to level up.

The way to level up Pokémon Legends: Arecus' Star Rank is to complete Pokédex's Research Tasks. These involve capturing, defeating, or using a special move on specific Pokémon. When encountering a Pokémon in the wild, highlight the Pokémon and use the bottom D-Pad to scan which challenges are needed. It's also important to try and capture one species of each Pokémon. The initial first capture gives a big bonus at the end of surveys. Not only that, but evolving Pokémon will build points towards leveling up Star Ranks.

Grabbing them all will get players closer to finding the Shiny Charm, a valuable item for Shiny Hunting in the post-game. Regardless, remember to go back to Cyllene to level up when it becomes available. Each rank in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is more challenging than the last. Regardless, the goal remains the same, capture every Pokémon in the Hisui region.
